Virginia Mill Works Co.- 1/2" x 5" Burnished Acacia- Prefinished Stained Handscraped Engineered Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Length: Random

Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Mill Works handscraped floors.

Quick Highlights:
- Superior Strength and Stability
- Handscraped Engineered
- Nail, Glue or Float Installation
- Backed with a 30 Year Warranty

About Handscraped Flooring:
Handscraped or distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.

About Engineered:
Hardwood veneer layers are stacked on one another, with the grain of the adjacent layers oriented perpendicular to each other.
Because wood expands and contracts in the direction of the grain, one layer stabilizes the next, resulting in a product that is less susceptible to the effects of moisture & temperature change.

Did you know?
An estimated 60-70 million Americans are affected by house dust, which can cause itchy eyes, sneezing, rashes, breathing difficulty and sinus trouble because of trapped pollens and molds in carpets, upholstery and curtains.
Not even frequent vacuuming will eliminate those microscopic troublemakers.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

  • Q:

Is this scratch resistant for people with dogs?
Asked on 10/18/2014 by Kate from United States

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

      Yes it is "scratch resistant".
Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

  • Q:

Is this a good floor to put in a bathroom?
    Asked on 11/12/2013 by Jill

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

full bathroom that is showered in everyday may not be the best location for hardwood. Often there is too much water on the floor or humidity that can be absorbed into the flooring resulting in board edge cupping. Resilient and Tile floors are a better choice for these areas.

  • Q:

Can this floor be installed floating similar to a laminate floor?
Asked on 9/21/2013 by Joe from Chula Vista, Ca

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

FLOATING FLOOR INSTRUCTIONS During installation, Carpenters PVA Floating Floor Wood adhesive should be applied to each groove on the short and long sides of the planks to ensure bond with the other planks. Two separate continuous beads of glue should be applied: one continuous bead applied inside the groove, and one continuous bead applied to the top part of the tongue at all seams to ensure a secure bond with the top and bottom of the tongue. This double-gluing helps to minimize squeaks, board gaps, or separation. Note that seasonal gapping is normal in wood flooring and does not constitute a product failure.

  • Q:

Does the flooring need to run perpendicular to the floor joists? We are installing over plywood subfloor. Is it Ok if the flooring direction doesn't match the wood floor direction for the stairs? Do you recommend a miter saw and a table saw or will a table saw work? Do you recommend two types of air nailers?
