Q:What technique do you recommend using to fix scratches on the floor. after moving some appliances back I have minor surface scratches... Was also wondering what type of finish is on the floor - Gloss, Semi-Gloss - Latex or Oil Poly?
A:Wax filler sticks, stain markers and color-putty are now available at your local Lumber Liquidators and at most home centers that are used for minor hardwood repairs. This process is used to fill-in face-nails, nicks and gouges. Select the appropriate stick color to match the damaged area. Often several colors are used to blend colors for exotic species, bring a scrap piece of the flooring to match it up.

Q:I just cleaned the floor with a Shark steam mop and now it is cloudy with water streaks. It looks like the sheen has been lessened as well. I read in the instructions not to use a steam mop on no wax or wax floors, but I did not know if these floors were considered that. Is there a remedy you could suggest to get the cloudiness off of the floor? I fear I've ruined my gorgeous new floors!! Thanks.
A:Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location.
