Virginia Mill Works Co.- 11/16" (17mm) x 8" (200mm) Burnished Acacia Prefinished Distressed Solid Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

This flooring can be nailed.

A beautiful distressed butcher block solid wood floor that features a small leaf acacia! Solid wood butcher block construction is more stable than traditional solid wood floors and offers durability and structure. Each plank is completely sealed (top, back and sides). In addition, the pattern effects of the construction make for a great look that adds character to the flooring.

Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Mill Works distressed floors.

About Distressed Flooring:
Distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.

Is the floor surface smooth. It looks like it has dips in it.

      A:

This product does have a "hand-scraped" surface.
I would recommend visiting your local Lumber Liquidators to look at the actual sample (take home samples are free) or order a sample to make sure this is the right product for you.

  • Q:

Is the solid hardwood burnished acacia made with formaldehyde or does it contain any other toxic substances?
    Asked on 10/3/2015 by JB

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

No. This is solid Short Leaf Acacia so the normal precautions for wood saw dust should be followed when cutting.

Reasonable precautions to sensitivities should always be taken. Most "new product" smells will have dissipated long before the flooring has been delivered for installation, usually during the shipping and storage stage.

Lumber Liquidators hardwood flooring is finished using aluminum oxide microchips applied with several coats of urethane finish cured under UV light. After the "curing process" the finished flooring in this state is completely safe for our children and pets.

However, as for any dust particulates from Aluminum oxide or even wood dust, if you should choose to do the installation yourself do what the Pros do when cutting; Set the power saws outside with a fan blowing the wood-dust away from your body. This will keep you cleaner and allow you to safely see the cutting area better -don't forget to wear your safety glasses!

      A:

There should be instructions on the bottle. Spray a microfiber cloth mop until damp and mop in the direction of the flooring until the cleaner dissipates, then repeat for the remainder of the floor.

  • Q:

What technique do you recommend using to fix scratches on the floor. after moving some appliances back I have minor surface scratches... Was also wondering what type of finish is on the floor - Gloss, Semi-Gloss - Latex or Oil Poly?
    Thanks

      A:

Wax filler sticks, stain markers and color-putty are now available at your local Lumber Liquidators and at most home centers that are used for minor hardwood repairs. This process is used to fill-in face-nails, nicks and gouges. Select the appropriate stick color to match the damaged area. Often several colors are used to blend colors for exotic species, bring a scrap piece of the flooring to match it up.
This has a Semi-Gloss UV cured urethane finish with Aluminum oxide.
      Thank you for your inquiry.

We are considering this product to install on square pillars 9'x2', not on flooring. Will this work for this application and what installation method would you recommend?

  • Q:

This is a wide board floor. Can nails be used to install alone? will that hold it? if so
16 gauge nailer or 18g ( floor nailer from Lumber L. store)? I search installation manual, and no mention about the width of this floor. Some guys say I need both glue and nail
Asked on 6/24/2014 by Jaque from Florida

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

This requires an 18 gauge cleat nailer.

Normally hardwood, the width sizes of 2"-3 1/2" are referred to as strip flooring. Widths sizes 4"- 6" are referred to as boards and 8"- 12" are refereed to as Planks.

Strip and board hardwood generally only need to be blind nailed at the tongue. Board installations can benefit from additional back gluing. This is done by omitting the felt building paper and applying urethane adhesive (1/4" thick bead in a tight snaky pattern) with a caulk gun to the back of each board, then nail.

      Type "Wide" here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101
and select Wide Plank Flooring installation Tips (pdf)
