This Butcher block comes unfinished and needs to be sealed to protect it from stains, there are several ways to finish butcher block countertops. For details type Butcher Block here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101
Finishing with urethane will prevent staining better than the oil finish and is easier to maintain.

    • Q:

I am disappointed in my finish on my butcher block island. After many coats of mineral oil and buffing, as soon as we wiped it down with a damp rag (after thoroughly drying) it brought the grain of the wood back up and it is very rough. After a month we had it "shaved" and did it over and the same thing happened. I don't like it!! What to do?
