Virginia Mill Works Co.- 3/4" x 5" Cambridge Oak Prefinished Handscraped Solid Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Mill Works handscraped floors.

About Handscraped Flooring:
Handscraped or distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.
Please note this product is a nominal 3/4" thick, but due to its scraping process the thickness may be as thin as 5/8" in the scraped areas.

  • Q:

How long are the boards (range)? Some are saying that you get all short boards and that is why it's cheaper. Thanks
    Asked on 6/17/2013 by J

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

This product is designed for nail or glue installation that's why the boards are short. For a glue down installation the boards length can not exceed 4'. The boards range from 1'-4' and the average length is 27".

  • Q:

    can i float this material
Asked on 2/13/2013 by sergio from el centro ca

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Generally no, we do not recommend tongue and groove glue floating solid flooring. However this can be achieved with great success when you use Elastilon as your installation system. Elastilon Self Adhesive Underlayment is a good option for any flat subfloor. You can use up to 3/4" thick or thinner solid or tongue and groove engineered flooring (works best with 1/2" or thicker). Floating with Elastilon needs to have an expansion break for spans over 33' on it's width, but not length.

  • Q:

Can I use this with staple up radiant heat?
Asked on 10/12/2012 by Richard from pine bush

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

      Excerpt from our installation instructions;
      RADIANT HEAT
Engineered wood and floating floors (floors not attached to the subfloor) are most recommended for radiant heat. However, if you should choose to use solid wood for this application select species with the best stability ratings. Be aware that even species with better dimensional stability characteristics cannot predictably be guaranteed to perform well over radiant heat. Therefore, solid wood applications over radiant in-floor heat is not recommended nor warranted. Because of the wide array of in-floor heating systems on the market each with its own features and limitations please consult with your radiant flooring provider for installation methods and application advice. You can find complete installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the specs tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.pdf

  • Q:

cambridge Oak handscraped how do you fix minor scratches?
Asked on 9/14/2012 by rmbtru from newnan, ga

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Wood floors like furniture will scratch and dent if not properly protected. It is recommended to use felt furniture pads under the furniture legs. Pet nails should be kept trimmed and sharp objects (including high heels) kept off the floor. Often scratches can be adequately repaired using liquid scratch covers. Dents and nicks can be filled using wood floor repair kits available at your local home store. If your floor is severely damaged please consult a professional about refinishing or an individual board replacement may be all that’s needed. Scuffs can often be removed by rubbing the spot with mineral spirits on a cloth rag. Thank you for your inquiry..

      A:

      Naildown- Yes.
      Glue down-Yes.
      Floated- Yes.
This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.
But can be installed over concrete using our Elastilon underlayment.
What you should know about Elastilon Strong
An Elastilon-backed wood floor is much faster to install than traditional nail or glue-down methods.
Elastilon Strong can be installed on new concrete floors, handling up to 3.9% moisture content. A vapour barrier of at least 6 mil PE should be used below grade and on newly poured concrete above grade where the moisture content is above 3.9%.
Laid down with a 5/8” (15 mm) expansion gap, Elastilon Strong creates a dynamic, floating floor that expands or contracts naturally with the hardwood.
Elastilon Strong has no odor and is free of volatile materials.
      Elastilon Strong gives cushioned comfort.
1/8” (3 mm) thick Elastilon Strong has ratings of IIC 62 and STC 54.
      Thermal resistance: R _ 0,15 (m K) / W
