- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly

- Glue or Nail Down
- Premium Finish
- 50 Year Warranty

Carbonized
Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within to change its color.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 50 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

  • Q:

Instructions say to leave a gap in front of kitchen cabinets, rather than installing under the cabinets. I imagine this is true for the perimeter cabinets. Is the same thing recommended for a kitchen island?
Asked on 1/31/2017 by Carolina from Worcester, MA

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Expansion gaps are needed around perimeter and around any fixed vertical obstructions (cabinets). Quarter Round molding or shoe molding is used to cover the expansion gap. Without the expansion gaps in place you can experience buckling of the flooring if it expands with cabinets fastened to it; essentially binding the flooring from normal movement due to temperature and humidity variances.

  • Q:

What type of finish is placed on this flooring? Is it printed?
    Thank you.
Asked on 9/1/2016 by Mary from United States

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

This bamboo floor is factory pre-finished with a proprietary formula of aluminum oxide and urethane using a multi-step application process. The application is typically performed in a six step process and is hard-cured using ultraviolet (UV) light. Not a printed material.

  • Q:

Is it possible to sand down this flooring and refinish if it became damaged?
Asked on 9/1/2016 by Mary from United States

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

To restore the original shine of a solid hardwood, bamboo, cork, and engineered floor a screen and re-coat may be needed or a complete refinishing. A professional sand and finish expert would have to make the determination on site on which sanding process will be needed or which can be done to restore the floors shine. Not all engineered floors can be refinished because of having a thin veneer layer.

  • Q:

I have some scratches that need repairing? Any suggestions? Can I use the repair pens I see online? If so what would you call this color??
Asked on 6/27/2016 by Rollie from United States

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Typically we use touch up pens or markers for minor scuffs and scratches. These are available at all home centers in the paint dept. The best ones to use for minor scuffs look like a magic marker with wood stain used instead of colored ink. For deeper scratches they also carry colored crayons and matching putty, they have a wide assortment and if you take a board or a piece of scrap you should be able to match the colors easily!
This is not a stained product but my best guess is; Spice.

      A:

here is an example of a typical 12'x10' room

1st) Measure the rooms Length x width

      (12'x10')= 120' sq ft area

2nd) Add *waste percentage to allow for cutting and board selection

      (120'sqft area + *5% waste) or (120'x5%) = an additional 6 sq ft, for a total of 126sq ft.

3rd) Next round up the total to nearest full box.
