Quick Highlights:

DURABILITY - 25 year warranty same as traditional hardwood.
DESIGN - Architects, Designers and Home Owners love the color pallet and fashion patterns of cork.
COMFORT -  Cork is resilient which relives stress in the back and legs when standing on our floors.
WARMTH - Cork takes on the temperature of the room. Great for warm or cold climates.
QUIET - Cork is great for sound deadening due to the honeycomb cell structure of the bark. This reduces sound within the room as well as between floors in multi-level structures.
EASY MAINTENANCE -  Just sweep and spot clean for many years of use.

Lisbon Cork Co. Ltd. Fine Cork Flooring combines the beauty of a natural material with the comfort of a cushioned surface. It is durable, acoustical, and a great insulator.  The bark of the cork tree is peeled without destroying the tree and it grows back within nine years, ready to be harvested again. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a joy to live with. Cork is considered a green product because the same tree can be harvested numerous times.

I put this in a 34 ft Airstream travel trailer. My husband and I put it in the living area and kitchen and it looked so good I continued down the hall and the bathroom. It cuts well and has good cushioning. I chose it because we had so many oak cabinets we didn't want another wood that clashed.Great choice

We were wary of installing cork in our kitchen because we feared stains and/or warping from water. But this stuff really handles well. We wipe up spills fairly quickly but in general, it is very durable. Bonus, we have dropped open wine bottles and a glass jar of tomato sauce. They made a mess but the glass didn't break!

I installed this cork flooring in my kitchen about 2 years ago. Overall I feel that I made the right choice.
When you are going to be in the kitchen for hours you can almost forget how sore your feet used to be with tile or laminate.
Also, I have cathedral ceilings, but experience no echoes when walking across the floor. With vinyl flooring that was not the case.
I keep my thermostat low throughout the year, but the floors stay relatively warm.
I recently did get a stain from tomatoes that leaked onto the floor and stained it. I am not finding much info on how to take care of that other than replacing sections. I think the polyurethane that you seal it with is very important, but did not prevent the dark stain.

great floor... but could use extra poly

This floor too a long time for installers to install and there were many pieces with cracked edges/corners. Overall, came out great. However, finish seemed lacking and I could not trust myself walking on it w/o putting extra layers of water based poly on top... esp to protect seams.

Does the flooring get permanent indentions from long term furniture placement? For example, if a sofa is left in one spot for several years how does one get the indentations out of the flooring?

                          A:

This cork product being resilient can and will dent from heavy furnishings but does have memory and will bounce back to a certain degree. To protect your new floor from permanent damage always use furniture leg protectors.

I'm considering this material for my family room but I have two dogs, one with a weak bladder. I'd like to put down this floor and add several coats of polyurethane to seal the seams and prevent scratches, is that an advisable option?

                          A:

This would void the warranty. However it can be done successfully.

Our Lisbon cork floors are finished with seven coats of floor grade water-base urethane. There are many good brands of floor grade water-based urethanes appropriate for corks, several are two-part mixes. A lamb’s wool applicator or wide paint brush works best for total surface coating. Rollers will tend to generate or trap "foamy" air bubbles into the finish. Normally sanding is not required in-between coats of water-base urethane within 48 hrs of application. However, if light sanding or abrading is required between cured coats, avoid steel wool as traces left behind can rust; use nylon sanding pads or very fine sandpaper. For the best application follow the labeling instructions from the sealer manufacturer.

The same cleaning and maintenance guidelines that apply to hardwood also apply to cork and bamboo floors.

Thickness can be a factor with laminate flooring however this doesn't apply to floating cork flooring.

Yes, floating cork can. A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below Grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4-6" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall.

                          A:

This cork has 7 coats of quality flooring grade water-based urethane and will hold up well. Riding toys with plastic wheels should not be an issue.

                          Proper care will help.

For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often. Spills should be toweled up promptly.

Bellawood Cleaner works well, find here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/s/flooring-molding-tools-accessories/floor-care-products

In addition, Bona Kemi makes good and safe hardwood flooring cleaner.

Do not use oil-type cleaner of any kind.

Unfortunately TV programs do not usually have to deal with the warranties and replacements of products when installed outside of the manufactures recommendations.
Excess moisture such as high humidity can adversely affect any natural product.
You could be perfectly fine putting cork in your bath room but no guaranties, sorry.
We have a 2mm peel and stick and now a 4mm and 5mm solid vinyl click together products that can go in full bath areas or where moisture is a concern. Thank you for your inquiry.

I am considering using a floating cork floor in a complete kitchen renovation. That is, lower cabinets, refrigerator, dishwasher, and range will all be sitting in the floating cork floor. Will this work?

Fixed cabinets are not recommended to be installed over any floating floor product.

I would like to know if you would recommend this product in a laundry room.

                          A:

Due to the excessive moisture present in a full bath we cannot recommend any of our solid natural flooring or laminate products for this application,
I would suggest one of our vinyl Tranquility products. We have a 2mm peel and stick and now a 4mm and 5mm solid vinyl click together products that can go in full bath areas or where moisture is a concern. Thank you for your inquiry.
