Lisbon Cork- 13/32" x 11-5/8" x 35-5/8" Castelo Cork Flooring

Quick Highlights:
DURABILITY - 25 year warranty same as traditional hardwood.
DESIGN - Architects, Designers and Home Owners love the color pallet and fashion patterns of cork.
COMFORT -  Cork is resilient which relives stress in the back and legs when standing on our floors.
WARMTH - Cork takes on the temperature of the room. Great for warm or cold climates.
QUIET - Cork is great for sound deadening due to the honeycomb cell structure of the bark. This reduces sound within the room as well as between floors in multi-level structures.
EASY MAINTENANCE -  Just sweep and spot clean for many years of use.

Lisbon Cork Co. Ltd. Fine Cork Flooring combines the beauty of a natural material with the comfort of a cushioned surface. It is durable, acoustical, and a great insulator.  The bark of the cork tree is peeled without destroying the tree and it grows back within nine years, ready to be harvested again. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a joy to live with. Cork is considered a green product because the same tree can be harvested numerous times.

Use of Underlayments:
Our Lisbon floating cork can be installed with or without an underlayment. However, superior thermal and sound isolation qualities can be achieved when installing over an underlayment. When doing so Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of the following underlayments: Bellawood Platinum, Bellawood Premium, ECO Silent Sound, Insulayment and Quiet Walk. These quality underlayments best support the locking joints and are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

We recently remodeled our kitchen, dining area and living room. We decided on the Costelo cork flooring after seeing it in a home we looked at during our house hunt that HGTV had done a whole house crash on. It is beautiful and cleans like a dream. It's soft yet durable. We had reservations about using cork but not anymore. It is so unique and makes the whole house seem cozier. We love it!

We used the Castello Cork throughout our entire home. It has been installed for a year now. 1600sq ft. Yes even in the kitchen and parts of the bathroom. We are a pretty low use abuse house so I wasn't as worried about it getting beat up. There have been a few areas where heavy furniture has left compression divots. My greatest complaint about this product is color shifting/fading. I understand that over time there will be a color change but this is just over a year old and there are areas that you wouldn't think it was the same product anymore.

        Service and delivery comments:

If you need to put something in right away this is not the product. It takes quite awhile for this product to be shipped.

        Arrived in good shape though.

        Best Uses

Put this in our master bathroom. The install can be a little tricky -- make long 3/8" spacers and keep them in place or the "floating" floor will shift during installation. The pieces can be a little tough to get installed. You need to put them in at the correct angle, "persuade" them nice and tight together, then drop them flat. This gets fun on the final course. If one isn't provided, I recommend cutting a rabbit out of a block of wood the width of one piece that is the size and one of the tongues. You can use the block to put even pressure on the whole piece when you tap it in place with a mallet. If using in a bathroom, put several coats of poly down before regular use, especially on the seams.

Went down extremely easy and looks great. Put two coats of water-based polyurethane to seal the seams. Will see how it holds up in the bathroom.

I put this in a 34 ft Airstream travel trailer. My husband and I put it in the living area and kitchen and it looked so good I continued down the hall and the bathroom. It cuts well and has good cushioning. I chose it because we had so many oak cabinets we didn't want another wood that clashed.Great choice

Due to the excessive moisture present in a full bath we cannot recommend any of our solid natural flooring, cork or laminate products for this application, I would suggest one of our vinyl Tranquility products. We have a 2mm peel and stick and now a 4 and 5mm click together products that can go in full bath areas or where moisture is a concern. Thank you for your inquiry.

                      A:

This product has a layer of 1.8mm thin cork on the bottom and does not require additional padding. A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below Grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4-6" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall. You can find complete installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the installation tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ADDITIONAL PADDING:
When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of our Bellawood Premium underlayment or ECO Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments will best support the joints while ensuring superior thermal sound reduction qualities and are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

Can this flooring be refinished if it gets damaged? It is listed as only 10mm thick, so how would one refinish it if they wanted?

                      A:

Full refinishing will take slightly under a 1/32” off the veneer of the wood flooring. The thickness of the veneer and how much wear and dents a floor has will determine how many times it can be refinished. Solid hardwood that is ¾” thick may be refinished 4 to 7 or more times depending on how much wood was taken off on each refinishing. Engineered flooring with a 1/8” wear layer or more will be able to be refinished at least once. We recommend that hardwood floor refinishing be done by a professional and if your not sure if you can refinish your flooring have professional sand and finish expert come to your home and evaluate your flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.

To restore the original shine of a solid hardwood, bamboo, cork, and engineered floor a screen and re-coat may be needed or a complete refinishing. A professional sand and finish expert would have to make the determination on site on which sanding process will be needed or which can be done to restore the floors shine. Not all engineered floors can be refinished because of having a thin veneer layer.
                      Thank you for your inquiry.

                      A:

Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location.
                      The following cleaning principles are recommended for all of our products -Hardwood, Laminates, Corks, Bamboo and other Exotics. Outlined are examples of the reasonable and necessary maintenance to be performed; this is only intended to be a basic list;
                      • Immediately after installation, be certain that the flooring is completely cleaned and dry as described below. If you must protect the flooring from traffic, use only “craft” paper, brown, red or white, this will allow the flooring to “breathe”. Do not fully cover the flooring. NEVER lay plastic of any kind or any other non-porous material over the flooring as this can trap moisture, harm the flooring or fade the finish.
                      • Sweep or vacuum regularly, since built-up dirt, grit and sand can damage the surface of the wood. If using a vacuum, use a soft brush attachment -NOT A BEATER BAR ATTACHMENT. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the finish. When using a broom be certain that bristles are soft. You can also use a dry mop.
                      • Because of the myriad of cleaning products available and methods of each application, Lumber Liquidators cannot endorse or oversee the use of any Brand Name of floor cleaner. We do recommend cleaning products safe for urethane finishes such as our Bellawood floor cleaner.
                      • The use of a changeable terry cloth type system to clean the floor is highly recommended; apply cleaning solution to the terry cloth not the floor.
                      • NEVER use oil soaps, liquid, or paste wax products or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, Tung oil, silicone, or ammonia on pre-finished flooring. The use of these products will harm the long-term performance and appearance of your floor and may affect future re-coating. (Damages caused by non-recommended cleaning products are not covered by warranties). NOTE: This also includes the use of vinegar and water solutions as water can damage wood. Vinegar is an acidic element that can have an oxidizing, caustic effect on the finish.
                      • In an effort to clean hardwood floors, many have experimented with a variety of cleaners on the market and end up with a new problem. “How to remove the build-up of cleaning products revealing the original surface"? If this is the case with you, we recommend consulting with a professional cleaner local to your area because they can best see the details involved and make the most accurate recommendations. If you choose to remove the layers of build-up yourself, use cotton rags instead of a mop to control the amount of liquid used.
                      • NEVER wet-mop, damp-mop, swab or flood your floor with water or any other product. Moisture can seep into the seams causing edge-cupping damage. Urethane floors do not require wet mopping. Natural floors are water resistant, not water proof. Remove all spills promptly using a soft, slightly damp cloth
                      • STEAM CLEANERS OR WET-JET swiffer; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.
                      • Do place protective mats at entry doors to keep dirt, grit, sand and moisture from being track in from the outside.
                      • Do use area rugs in heavily traveled areas and pivot points (e.g., stair landings, room entries, etc.), especially if you have a large family or indoor pets.
                      • When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
                      • Take reasonable precautions; use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving heavy objects such as furniture and appliances.
                      • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents. Check and replace wore pads regularly.
                      • Keep pet’s nails trimmed, and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil, and stains.
                      • Scratches, dents and cupping are site related, not considered a manufactured defect.
                      Thank you for your inquiry
