This is a beautiful floor. We used it in our hallway and three bedrooms upstairs. Our only complaint is that the floor scratches very easily. Besides that, it looks great!!!

Product was bought because it looks great. Assumed that it would be durable and low maintenance. 5/16 is too thin. Finish wears and scratches easily. Careful about putting any furniture with any sort of weight. Floor dents easily too. Floor looks great but I am concerned for how long.

Comments about Schön Engineered 5/16" x 4" Chocolate Sapele Engineered:
It looks nice and pretty when your done. however not good for long term. You will probably have to replace in 10 years or sooner. Also everything shows up easily, dust, scratches, and footprints. the one thing i did find helpful in cleaning is Dr. Watkins all purpose cleaner its natural and safe to use on wood products. use this along with the Bella wwod floor cleaner by lumber liqudators cleaner u should be good to go. That Dr. Watkins is a life saver pulls the dirt out of most things, warning highly lemony fragrance, if you are allergic to citrus don't do it to yourself. Most of there products are citrusy except the one with the green label. Use that and I promise you would like it.

Floor is beautiful and eye catching. However it is impossible to keep clean. The color shows every dust particle, and footprint.

Comments about Schön Engineered 5/16" x 4" Chocolate Sapele Engineered:
Love the look of the floor - it has an exotic look - perhaps I should have invested in real hardwood rather than engineered -because this wood is too soft and dents very easily. Also, I am frustrated trying to stop the smudging. I am hoping over time this problem will go away. Very disappointed and will have to invest in several area rugs to minimize the foot prints and paw prints from my dog.

Like the muscle car of the 80's this floor looked great in the showroom and was very affordable but I can tell it won't last very long. After installing it in our great room we found it scratches and dents easily. Before we even moved into our house I had several large dents (through a layer of cardboard and paper) from tools falling onto the floor. I think the dark color makes everything more noticeable but it clearly is softer than others.
On the plus side it looks great and there is little of the clickity-clickity of some other floors. The color is really stunning.
We are resigned to the fact that we'll need to replace it in five or six years.

Comments about Schön Engineered 5/16" x 4" Chocolate Sapele Engineered:
I laid down 2,700 square feet. The installation went well. Product was consistent and uniform among boxes. I'm using it in the kitchen. When I tipped the dishwasher over to make some connections, the sharp edges on the bottom marred the floor. I was a little surprised that the finish was not more durable. However since it is so very dark I think it shows scuffs more than a lighter color.

Can this product be installed on top of vinyl flooring?1 answer
A:
Yes it can. With proper installation and care this flooring will last for years in this application. You can find complete care and installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the specs tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.pdf Thank you for your question.Q:
We bought 1800 feet of this product and just began the installation. The first 12 or so boxes were all the same length variation (18" and 24"). So, we used this same pattern for two rooms. The next five boxes opened had lengths of 12" and 30", which is now really ruining our pattern. The SKUs, lot numbers, manufactue date, etc. are all identical. I found nothing on any reference online that indicates what sizes we can expect. What should we do? This is a bit disappointing to say the least, and the installer is really mad.1 answer

Yes this engineered flooring can be installed over radiant heat.Q:
What finish is on the floor boards? We had this installed a month ago and aren't sure how to care for it. Can we put a product on it that would make it shinier?1 answer
A:
The Schön Engineered 5/16" x 4" Chocolate Sapele flooring has a water base finish. If you apply a new finish to the flooring you will void your finish warranty on the product. For a new finish to take to the old finish you will have to lightly abrade the flooring. This type of work is best done by a professional sand and finish expert.
