satisfied

By sandy

from salem. va

Pros

  • Good product for the cost
  • Nice rich color

Cons

  • Minimum Clear Coat
  • Not Beveled Edges
  • Not Labeled Utility Grade

Best Uses

  • Non Focal Point Rooms

my husband and i installed this flooring in an outbuilding i will use as a workout/ dance studio. the product was not labeled utility grade in its online description, but was labeled utility directly on the wood and therefore had many more smaller pieces and several mismilled faulty finished pieces. some waste is to be expected, though and we had plenty to complete the job. i do love the beautiful color, and i enjoy the more rustic nature of this flooring. overall, considering the thrifty price of this flooring, i am quite satisfied with the result.

we LOVE our new floors

Pros

Cons

  • Many Small Pieces Of Wood
  • Time consuming to install

Best Uses

The floors turned out absolutely beautiful and the price could not be beat. There were a lot of short pieces of wood, which made it cumbersome to do the installation, but for the price that is to be expected. We couldn't be happier with our new floors.

    Service and delivery comments:

We ordered this wood flooring online. We were disappointed when we were originally told it would take several weeks to be delivered to our local store, and no other store within hours had it in stock. However, it turned out it only took about 10 days to be delivered to our local store. Lumber Liquidators called us at every step of the way to keep us updated on our order.

We put this down in a craft room. I purchased 380 Ft2 (19 boxes) for 340 ft2 room. I ended up 2 boxes short.

On a positive note, once I told my local distribute he pointed me to Customer Care. They took care of the issue once pointed out. The two boxes were just enough to finish it up. Wife is pleased over all. So no problem....

Beautiful, quality floors at great price

      By Tweety

      from VA

      Pros

      • BEAUTIFUL

      Cons

      • Hard Work Installing
      • Many unusable boards

      Best Uses

This is a beautiful product if you want quality floors with character and color variance. Being complete novices, we installed the floor in our living room and hallway (about 240 sq ft) over a 3 day period. Very tedious, hard work but the floor is beautiful. We ordered 10% more product and used every single usable board.

            A:

SUMMARY: The purpose of Rustic grade flooring is to produce a floor suitable for homes, general utility use, or where character marks and contrasting appearance is desired. Rustic grade flooring has a lower average plank length than Natural grade flooring. When purchasing this grade be sure to add 10% -20% to complete the project.
DETAILED: Rustic Grade flooring may contain all natural variations in coloration and sound wood characters except severe defects such as: shattered or rotten ends, badly split ends, shake, advanced rot, or severe milling imperfections which would materially impair the serviceability of the floor. Knot holes and open characters which can be readily filled are admitted. Rustic grade pre-finished flooring may have a plank face that contains a limited amount of finishing imperfections including, but not limited to: light/moderate grainy surface, debris, streaks, uncoated bevel, dents/ scratches, lipped ends, or orange peel/ropey finish. Finish skips are not permitted. When assembled, Rustic grade flooring should not exhibit gaps exceeding 0.031"or end/side over-wood(e.g. height variation between adjacent boards) exceeding 0.030".

If I use elastilon for installation instead of nails, would that void the floor manufacturer's warranty?
Asked on 11/12/2015 by JimMalone from United States

          1 answer

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

Elastilon requires the use of quality milled flooring
            * Examples of flooring not recommended for use with Elastilon; Odd lots, cabin grade, rustic or laminate floors
It is important to visually inspect each piece of wood flooring before being installed. As with any other type of installation method, Elastilon cannot compensate for flooring that is severely bowed warped, cupped or damaged prior to an installation. Defective parts in boards must be cut off, the remainder of the board can be used as a start or end piece, used in a closet or in concealed portion of the room. In all applications board ends must be glued together during assembly.

Can this be installed on a concrete subfloor

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Yes, ¾" solid hardwood flooring can be glued down. FYI - Rustic grade is made of primarily shorts 1-3 feet long therefore glue-down installation can be difficult but not impossible. It is keeping your runs straight that presents a challenge. Snapping chalk lines more than usual is necessary.

Yes but the only way to do that is by using Elastilon self adhesive underlayment. What is it? Elastilon® is a unique pre-glued adhesive underlayment membrane installation system. What does it do? It allows the floating installation of all solid and engineered hardwood floors in any room or subflooring. Wood/tile/cement/steel. Benefits? Elastilon® is a soft, permanently elastic underlay for all hardwood floors with excellent thermal and acoustic Characteristics. Eliminates the need for nailing machines, fasteners or adhesives! An excellent installation choice for subfloors comprised of two different and level sub-base materials such as; a cement floor meeting up to a wood subfloor. Thank you for your inquiry

        • Q:

I recently bought a 1000 feet of this product I am very happy with the appearance but it has a very uneven height if you rub your hand or foot across it the edge of one board will be a few thousands higher than the next. Will this cause the finish to ware off of the higher edge very quickly and if so will the warranty cover this? At first I thought it was my sub floor until I checked the lumber still in the box and it is the same.

            A:

Height differences are common with prefinished flooring unlike unfinished which will be the same until it is sanded smoothly. This may be especially true with this product as it is Utility Grade.
