Morning Star Clic Bamboo - 1/2" x 5" Prefinished Solid Strand Carbonized Bamboo Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- Backed by a 30 Year Warranty

Carbonized
Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within to change its color.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

Love it!

  • Easy Maintenance

Cons

Best Uses

We started out with installing the bamboo in the living room, dining room and hall. It was so beautiful we decided to take it into the Master bedroom and walk in closet. After that was completed we had several boxes left over so we decided to finish off the office (another bedroom) with it! There is hardly any waste on the job which is very cost effective.

The sales people were very knowledgeable and helpful. I LOVE my new floor!

Very easy to install and the Bellawood Premium Underlayment works very well underneath it. I installed 800 sq. ft. of this in a garage I renovated into a living space. I suspect the others who have noticed scratches may actually have noticed the wax surface being scratched but this is easily buffed out with a damp cloth.

                  Service and delivery comments:

Great service from the folks at Lumber Liq. in Chanhassen, MN. Easy in and out the day I purchased it. Due to the load weight I picked half up on a Friday and the other half on Saturday. No issues what-so-ever. Great experience!

                    • Q:

I just purchased this bamboo product. I have a question, about acclamating the bamboo. In the section on how to install on other page not the question and answer page. It says to open one end and if the box is wrapped in plastic to take it off. In the question and answer page says leave it on. Which one? Also, on one it says to put the boxes so air can get around them. Does that mean should not stack on each other or even beside each other? Thanks
Asked on 5/10/2013 by Mel from Florida

                      1 answer

                      • Staff Reviewer

                        A:

                        Take it off.
Stack them so that air can circulate between the cartons.
All wood products are affected by environmental conditions, especially prefinished materials.
To control wood movement- expansion or shrinkage- it is recommended to acclimate the new flooring in the areas to be installed, not in (garages, U-Haul trailers, sheds, or tents) to normal lived-in conditions while in the boxes. If the products are protected in plastic then open the ends of the boxes. Length of time is not the determining factor. The goal of acclimation is for the core of the product to reach an equilibrium or moisture balance of the new flooring with its surroundings before installation or fastening. This balance could be achieved in as little as 1 to 5 days, or longer for some dense or oily exotic species.

                        Avoid shocking the floor.
Just like you, wood actually performs best with consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%. Very dry or humid regions of the country usually require extended conditioning. Maintaining the recommended acclimation levels even after the installation should be viewed as ongoing floor care. Your doing so will help to minimize board movement, excessive squeaks, finish cracking and gaps.

Hygrometers sold in most Target and Wal-Mart stores ($10-$45) can be used to easily identify the need to regulate the humidity or air moisture.
In addition, to prevent board warping or bowing, do not cut the plastic support bindings on the outside of the packaging until ready to install. Store products flat, in a dry place. Provide air flow under and around cartons. Do not store directly on bare concrete or next to outside walls. Cartons should be placed as close to the center of the installation area as possible.

Proper jobsite conditions, acclimation and moisture testing of the subfloor along with the new flooring all works together for the success of the installation and is the responsibility of those overseeing the project.

Can Strand Bamboo be sanded and refinished??
Asked on 4/23/2013 by Bob The Builder from New Jersey

                      1 answer

                      • CUSTOMER CARE

                        A:

If needed, bamboo flooring can be fully re-sanded and finished about three times as any other species

A typical floor sanding involves using a special (drum) floor sander, edger, and a buffer/ polisher with a disc attachment for holding sand paper and buffing pads. The sanding procedure starts with a course of medium grit sand paper. After sanding the entire floor, repeat with a medium grit and complete sanding with a fine grit sand paper. This produces a fine surface and is ready for finishing.

However, because bamboo is a grass it tends to get “fuzzy”, “burns” or heats-up faster during sanding. Using a medium grit paper, approach sanding at a slight angle to the grain direction then graduating down to fine course, similar to sanding soft yellow Pine.

In most cases, a full sanding is usually not required, just a “buff & re-coat” or “screening & re-coating”. Buff & re-coat is light sanding using an industrial type buffer that removes surface scratches, cleans, and prepares the floor for new top finishes. This procedure really depends how the floor was used or abused. In general, high traffic areas; kitchen-dinette would need to be re-coated sooner than a bedroom or formal dining room. If your floors have been treated with any “non-hardwood friendly products” such as; waxes or has heavy wear patterns, or has lots of dents, then it would need to be fully refinished (Sand & Finish).

                        A:

All natural species can change color over time due to oxidation or when exposed to light. In some species, the change can be more dramatic and may darken in color over time, while others tend to lighten. Currently there is no known value set for Patina or color change of a species so contractors and or customers should be aware of this normal condition. The patina process is unrelated to the urethane finishes. Thank you for your inquiry.

                        A:

Bamboo? Being a natural product it will be subject to the effects of temperature and humidity. If proper heat and humidity levels are not maintained your flooring may shift, shrink, expand, gap or buckle.
All wood (and grass) products are affected by environmental conditions, especially prefinished materials.

                        Thank you for your inquiry.

We just put clic carbonized strand bamboo in a room. We used eco silent underlyment and left correct spacing around the walls. We've noticed a slight up and down when walking in the middle of the floor that's 11 ft.wide. The floor is flat and level. Is this common with floating floors?
