3/16" would be the recommended size.

  • Q:

I am getting ready to install the Nirvana Plus Crystal Springs Hickory laminate and had to special order the T-bar trim to go between the laminate and porcelain tile and also between the laminate and sheet vinyl. My question is how far should the laminate be from the already installed porcelain tile to allow for the T-bar to cover both materials and also allow for expansion and float of the laminate? And should the T-bar be placed tight to the tile and allow only for laminate float? The installation will be done over a concrete first level floor.

The T-molding is 1-5/8" wide so leave 1" gap between the two surfaces.
The T can be close to the tile as that will not move.
