  • Q:

Can the Dura Dance pad be put down on top of carpet pad that is on the concrete using a poly layer in between the carpet pad and Dura Dance pad? (concrete, carpet pad, poly payer, Dura Dance pad)
Asked on 3/19/2017 by Newatthis from St. Paul, MN

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

This would not be recommended (too much cushion & moisture could "build-up" under the poly & cause mold or mildew in existing padding).
      Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

Can I put the Dura dance underlayment on top of commercial grade carpet?
Asked on 2/15/2017 by Gayle from Melbourne, Florida

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

My concern would be that the pad will "creep" as all carpet has a "directional" grain and could result in the flooring shifting (also moisture protection would not be addressed).
      Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

Can this be attached (eg glue/staple) to 1/2" plywood? Looking to build a practice floor out of finished plywood with padding underneath. But it's in a garage where I need to move the floor and the padding at the same time to make room for the car.

Also, if it's humid, would the open cell foam still absorb water? Does the dance pad need to be in an indoor air conditioned space?

      Cool idea!
This application would be considered "experimental" and not warranted, my biggest concern would be the moisture absorption.
      Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

1/2" bamboo flooring setting on 3/8" dura dance foam underlayment would require a reduction of 7/8" to a hard surface. What kind of reducer molding should be used to make such a steep reduction?

  • Q:

Would this be considered "closed cell foam"?
Asked on 12/17/2015 by Andy from United States

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

This foam cushion/underlayment is an open cell foam.
Why, this foam is made from liquid foams poured onto a fabric substrate. The liquid foams ( polyurethane and synthetic rubber /latex ) retain their thickness and have less compression than the closed cell plastic foams. Any liquid foam is an open cell foam. The dance pad requires an additional moisture vapor film to be installed on the floor before most installations.

A closed cell foam is made from plastic chips ( polyethylene / polyolefin ) extruded with air into a sheet. This is your PE and cross link foams. EVA and styrene foams are also a closed cell foams that are extruded and compressed.
