The floor nailer does the job

      Best Uses

Practice with it before you start using it on the real floor, it only took 51#'s pressure on my compressor, it splintered the tongue at 98.
Practice how hard you hit with it, the harder I hit the deeper it went, lighter it wouldn't go all the way in.
Once I got the hang of it, it did a great job!

Very easy to use ,and its a must have with its recommended nails as well if you installing: Morning Star 9/16" x 5-1/8" Antique Strand Handscraped Bamboo. This nailer will help you accomplish a final beautiful result. This is my first time for floor install. and it was easier then I originally thought.

        Does The Job

This a real nice product. I used it to install 400 sq/ft of carbonised bamboo. The job went very well, but pay close attention to your air pressure. Too much air pressure will cause the tongue to split. Also be extra careful with the 5/8" pad installed on the nailer, make sure you are nailing with the correct stop bumped against the board(look at the arrows on the side of the nailer) or you will be sending a nail into the middle of your board. Not much you can do except pull it up and discard it after that. With that in mind, I would recomend with no problem.

My only real complaint is that they could have worked the design to ensure the nailer lines up to proper location.

This tool made installed 3/4" hardwood a breeze. Once we had our first few rows in it would take less than a few minutes to nail the rows with this air nailer.

There wasn't any tool oil in the box. The nailer had nails in it. I believe it was used before. Only jammed once in 1000 nails. Appears to be a good product.

                        • Jammed Often

                        Best Uses

Used for 7 rooms of hardwood, on 8th the nailer baseplate snapped in half. On every room would jam multiple times. Very difficult to un-jam. After unjamming, would have to re-adjust set-up.

Best part, if it breaks, you have to buy a new one, can not gets parts to fix.

As a note, the other flooring nailers are reinforced in the same place this one broke.

Shortest warranty of any nail gun.

Bottom line, this is a very, very low end gun. You can get much better guns for less. And can get parts if needed.

If you have one room to do, it will work, but why not get something better for less money.

This is an efficient nailer with a great design. When it is lined up correctly on the board, it helps keeps the boards tight as they are nailed. With the 3/8" adapter for 3/8" flooring, there is only a small ridge to align the nailer before hitting the nailer. If I got in a hurry, I would get it aligned improperly and top-nail my boards. I found it best to place my left foot on the gun firmly before hitting it so that the nailer did not jump and scar the board.

The 5/8" plate should work for the 9/16" flooring, test first.

I bought this nailer(Norge Floor Nailer, 18G) to install Bellawood 3/8" Brazilian Cherry. I nailed a couple of rows but it seems to split the tongue most of the time(80%). I tried different combination of pressure from 60-90 and it was still splitting. Tried to hitting the with less force also same result. Also changed the plastic adapter from 3/8"&1/2" to 5/8" with no luck.
Can you suggest any adjustments that I can try which might work.

                                          A:

The Domestic species such as common red or white oak and maple are like the older family “station wagons” of flooring, easy to get and easier to work on. These represent some 85% of wood sales in the industry.

The Exotics represent some 12% of sales, these are like the “Ferraris” of the flooring world, harder to get harder to work on. Its superior strength, stability and good looks make these very sought after. Due to the denseness of some species tongue fracture during installation can happen, especially with the harder exotic species and is not considered a defect.

There are however, techniques the Pros use to minimize tongue fracture. You already are using a cleat nailer instead of a stapler; this is good as cleat nails tend to pierce the tongue cleaner and neater.

Try adjusting the regulator valve again or change the angle of nail entry by applying layers of duct tape (using the ⅜" shoe), either to the bottom front or bottom back of the tool foot base, this usually does the trick.

Installers with experience understand that nailing the much harder species like Blood wood, Ebony, Teaks, Brazilian Rosewood and Brazilian Cherry, the "pre-drill and hand nailing" method may be needed to prevent wood damage. If floor-nailing machines will not correctly nail a particular species without dimpling the surface or fracturing the tongues, it may be necessary then to pre-drill and hand-nail, just as a carpenter would when working around fine furniture or cabinetry.

Many professional installers understand this and often charge slightly more for installation of these “iron woods” as the correct installation can take twice as long.

                                          If Hand Nailing is Necessary-

One person can pre-drill the nail holes with a 3/32" (2mm) bit, the next can complete the nailing. For boards 2 1/4"-3 1/2" wide place a 2" nail, every 8”-10” inches along the side tongue edge and 2"-3" from the board ends. The wider the board the closer the nail spacing.

Use- ring or screw shank, galvanized or regular finishing nails 6d-7d.
