Comments about Mapei 5 Gallon Light Weight Adhesive:
The product is excellent. The container design is poor. 1/2 inch of dried product was wasted when the container was first opened. The lid does not reseal which causes product to dry overnight. I would recommend the product, I would not recommend the 5 gallon container.

is it okay to use over existing 3/4in.hardwood1 answer
A:
I would recommend installing a 3/8" CDX plywood first for a stable surface to glue down to.Q:
How do you clean it off if it accidentally gets on the floor? It's very faint, must have been on a shoe or something, but I keep using mineral spirits and it won't come off.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Once dry - Success has been made with mineral spirits but better is Bostik's Ultimate Adhesive Remover or Mapei Remover followed by a water damp rag to remove the adhesive remover before it can damage the finish. Hand buff. It seems that the remover dilutes the adhesive but when not completely removed the diluted adhesive dries on the finish leaving a residue. Try the remover as described above. Find here-Q:
Once opened, what's the best way to store remaining adhesive and what is the shelf life. I started my project, but it may take several days, or possibly weekends between use. Will it last that long?1 answer
A:
Keep opened product from freezing and you can cover the surface of the glue directly with plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out in the bucket. Put the cover back on as tightly as you can and this will last for this project.Q:
When is the best time of year to install wood flooring. I live in the MidWest and concerned about installation during the winter months - with humidity down, do I have to be concerned with expansion during the summer? We keep humidity down during the summer months by running the air conditioner, but I am worried about expansion if I install during the winter.2 answers
A:
ACCLIMATION/CONDITIONING OF THE FLOORING -SEE MOISTUREA:
The best time to install, and acclimate the flooring is when your home is at its average temperature and humidity level. For best results keep a consistent temperature and humidity level in the home year round. If you are able to do this you will get very little expansion or contraction. Some AC systems may be unable to pull out all the humidity out the air so a dehumidifier may be needed. For best results keep your home at a temperature between 60F to 80F with humidity between 30% and 50%. You can use a device called a hygrometer to monitor your home environment.Q:
Can this be used to glue engineered hardwood (Virginian Mill Works Teak) to open stair treads. The treads are unpainted 1" X 10 1/2" fir. There will be aproximately 1/8" flex over 34".1 answer
A:
this 100% urethane adhesive can be used to glue flooring to a step. The Amount of flex in your tread concerns me (no way to guarantee success) If possible reinforce them first.Q:
can i use this on solid bamboo going on wood subfloor1 answer
A:
No this is not recommended for bamboo floors. I would recommend using our Mapei Eco 980 or 990 adhesives for this application.
