My local LL actually sold knee pads with and without hard caps. I bought the ones with the hard caps and they have been very comfortable and durable. The hard pads protect the pads and knees but they don't scratch the floor. Gel and straps are very comfortable. Paid half the price of the ones that I purchased at the big box store and lasted much longer.
