I had to use an adhesive since I was attaching the trim to a concrete base. I used liquid nails and it worked great. First I attached a few pieces of shim and then the metal piece, which holds the trim down.
Make sure not to glue the trim directly to your wood floor or it will squeak whenever you walk over it.
You will also need a mitre saw if you plan to have corners/angles.
Overall, It looks great!

I have it everyplace but two bedrooms (and kitchen and bath, which are tile). Wish I had it in bedrooms, but it was a gift; purchased and installed by my son, so he got to make that decision.
We deal with dogs and kids, so carpet gets stained despite your best efforts. Now no worries!
