Quick Installation Tips:
- Store flooring flat for 48 hours in its original packaging at room temperature.
- Must be installed over a clean, stable, flat, smooth, and dry surface.
- Moisture barrier is required for installations over concrete.
- Make sure the panels are mixed sufficiently when you install them so that you do not end up with too many identical, light or dark panels next to each other.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ADDITIONAL PADDING:
Laminates having pre-attached padding can also be installed over an underlayment. When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of Bellawood Platinum, Bellawood Premium, Quiet Walk or the Eco Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments offer best joint/seam support while ensuring superior thermal sound reduction qualities, these properties are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

St. James Collection's Advantages:
- No glue and no nails needed
- Easy Click Installation
- Moisture resistant board
- Thickness: 12mm + 3mm (1/8") pre-glued underlayment
- 30 Year Warranty

      By patrick

      from vacaville

Half way done looks and feels fantastic. We cant wait untill finished. IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE CLICKING ENDS as in excessive taping I found that putting a peice of wax papper under the plank being slid over makes all the difference in the world, I have not needed a taping block since using this trick dont forget to pull wax paper. Hope it helps.

This was our first time putting in a laminate floor. We did have some movement of the floor after about half way thru but that was probably our fault. It turned out great. Beautiful coloring and the pieces snapped together great.

WE used this flooring to replace carpet in our entire house. It looks great and blends perfectly with any color furniture.

              Service and delivery comments:

WE had a great customer service experience in the store. The salesman was very knowledgeable and helpful.
The only thing that was not great was there were several chipped planks in a few of the boxes.

              • This Is Not Easy Click

              Best Uses

It looks wonderful and it really does help make the room pop. Mixed with antique wood furniture it lets the furniture stand out, while also drawing attention to itself and the pattern.

There is a significant learning curve when installing this laminate. If you cut a two foot or longer end cut from a piece of laminate, then it will allow you to click it in place between the two boards you want to join and then tap/pound the piece into place it works fairly well. The boards do not click down very easily and even then, the supporting board is required. Without this supporting board, the new board will not tap in straight, after you have installed five to six rows. One end will be out further from the other and this simply will cause major problems. After figuring out this process, the installation went much better. For 14 boxes we had about eight or nine pieces that had chips in them. They were reserved for end pieces where we could cut of the chip in the finish, but still use the rest of the board. Installing this flooring took about three days with removing the carpet, laying the underpad and then the floor, 120 square feet (which included our learning curve).

An associate from the store installed the same flooring and she had installed laminate before, but experienced the same problems that I did. Her boss experienced the same difficulties when he tried to show her the "proper" way to install it. The service at the store was first rate.

I love the look, but the installation, not very user friendly.

I recently moved to a newly-remodeled home that sellers had installed this flooring in the living room & dining room. Bedrooms had carpet, which I replaced with this product to match existing floors. Doesn't really clean up well, like greasy hand prints are visible. Scratches very easily, just from moving furniture that has felt bumpers on the legs. Thought it would be easier to care for than the real hardwood floors in my previous home, but that is not the case.

What is the best way to clean a laminate floor (St. James Collection - Acacia)
Asked on 12/13/2014 by Kattom from Battle Ground, WA

                        1 answer

                        • Staff Reviewer

                          A:

Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location.
                          The following cleaning principles are recommended for all of our products -Hardwood, Laminates, Corks, Bamboo and other Exotics. Outlined are examples of the reasonable and necessary maintenance to be performed; this is only intended to be a basic list;
                          • Immediately after installation, be certain that the flooring is completely cleaned and dry as described below. If you must protect the flooring from traffic, use only “craft” paper, brown, red or white, this will allow the flooring to “breathe”. Do not fully cover the flooring. NEVER lay plastic of any kind or any other non-porous material over the flooring as this can trap moisture, harm the flooring or fade the finish.
                          • Sweep or vacuum regularly, since built-up dirt, grit and sand can damage the surface of the wood. If using a vacuum, use a soft brush attachment -NOT A BEATER BAR ATTACHMENT. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the finish. When using a broom be certain that bristles are soft. You can also use a dry mop.
                          • Because of the myriad of cleaning products available and methods of each application, Lumber Liquidators cannot endorse or oversee the use of any Brand Name of floor cleaner. We do recommend cleaning products safe for urethane finishes such as our Bellawood floor cleaner and Dream Home Cleaner.
                          • The use of a changeable terry cloth type system to clean the floor is highly recommended; apply cleaning solution to the terry cloth.
                          • NEVER use oil soaps or paste wax products or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, Tung oil, silicone, or ammonia on pre-finished flooring. The use of these products will harm the long-term performance and appearance of your floor and may affect future re-coating. (Damages caused by non-recommended cleaning products are not covered by warranties). NOTE: This also includes the use of vinegar. Vinegar is an acidic element that can have an oxidizing, caustic effect on the finish.
                          • In an effort to clean hardwood floors, many have experimented with a variety of cleaners on the market and end up with a new problem. “How to remove the build-up of cleaning products revealing the original surface"? If this is the case with you, we recommend consulting with a professional cleaner local to your area because they can best see the details involved and make the most accurate recommendations. If you choose to remove the layers of build-up yourself, use cotton rags instead of a mop to control the amount of liquid used.
                          • NEVER wet-mop or flood your floor with water or any other product. Moisture can seep into the seams causing edge-cupping damage. Urethane floors do not require wet mopping. Natural floors are water resistant, not water proof. Remove all spills promptly using a soft, slightly damp cloth
                          • STEAM CLEANERS ; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend Water brooms or steamer type cleaners on laminates, bamboo, engineered wood, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in finish issues, warped, or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.
                          • Do place protective mats at entry doors to keep dirt, grit, sand and moisture from being track in from the outside.
                          • Do use area rugs in heavily traveled areas and pivot points (e.g., stair landings, room entries, etc.), especially if you have a large family or indoor pets.
                          • When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
                          • Take reasonable precautions; use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving heavy objects such as furniture and appliances.
                          • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents. Check and replace wore pads regularly.
                          • Keep pet’s nails trimmed, and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil, and stains.
                          • Scratches, dents and cupping are site related, not considered a manufactured defect

I installed about 1200' of this material in two rooms of my house and the hallway. I love the color and the look of the finished product. However I have not found a way to clean this floor. I have tried just about every laminate cleaning product on the market but despite this whenever I mop this floor it always leaves very noticeable streaks. You can see every mop stroke in the floor. It almost seems like there is a coating on top of the floor. Any suggestions? Thanks.

                          A:

Laminate Flooring Care: For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Throw rugs with hardwood flooring acceptable backing are useful in high traffic areas like entrances. Sweep often.

Our Laminate Flooring Cleaner works well (use as directed), find here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/c/Laminate-Floor-Cleaner-oz.-Dream-Home-LAMFC/10023454

Do not use oil-type cleaner or wax of any kind.

Lots of conflicting advice on the Internet. I have St. James 12mm laminate with attached pad to go over OSB subfloor that is in good condition. We are a one story home over a crawl space so not concerned with noise from upstairs but don't want the hollow clicking sound of thin laminates. Do we need another layer of underlayment for extra stability? There is a vapor barrier on the ground in the crawl space. Do we need another vapor barrier directly under the laminate?

                        • CUSTOMER CARE

                          A:

Padding attached laminate requires no additional underlayment. You could use a layer of white silicon paper or 15lb felt paper over the OSB as Vapor Barrier for a little extra protection from the crawlspace. Poly sheeting on the dirt floor should be enough of a moisture barrier. If you would like to use sound and temperature insulating underlayment use Bellawood Premium or Eco Silent Sound underlayment. These can be used with padded underlayment and still support the locking joints.
