In addition to being the hardest of the North American flooring choices, Hickory is also a beautiful option for home or business owners seeking a room with dramatic appeal. What is "Natural Grade"? Don't forget the molding and stair treads!

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" x 3-1/4" Hickory:
I love the floor when all was said and done. The initial board set was the biggest issue since I just happened to pick a warped long piece and it took a while to find one long enough to start the room that wasn't warped. It was 200 sq. ft. of bedroom. I had some help for about 2/3's the install then the rest was on my own. Just over 2 days to install and a lot of manipulating pieces because of some of the warped boards. Some boxes had several long pieces, some boxes were quite a few short pieces. So opening more than three boxes to mix and match is recommended. Didn't mind the short pieces because of the size of the room. Overall - a fun and frustrating project.

I installed this floor in my salon. 1400 sq feet of it! I wanted something that wasn't reddish, looked good with brick walls, and was very variegated and bvusy looking. people stop in just to comment of the floor!

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" x 3-1/4" Hickory:
This hickory flooring is beautiful. I installed in kitchen and had a hard time determining which ones to use under the cabinets! Only trouble is that there were several of the longer pieces that were too warped to use as a whole. I was able to salvage most pieces by cutting into shorter lengths. Overall, it is a great product that my wife wants to use in one of the bedrooms.
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery on this product was much faster than expected. I was told it would arrive in 10 - 14 days, but I was able to pick it up in 7 days.

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" x 3-1/4" Hickory:
We plan to do the entire first floor over time, but thought we'd cut our teeth on the downstairs office first. 14' x 10' room with a closet. With a total crew of 5 people, we were able to get it done in one weekend. Came out looking great! Variations in the colors kinda threw me when all was said and done, but the more we're living with it, the more it's appealing to me.
We're first-timers,so I'd suggest doing some homework to see what tools you'll need, and suggestions on how to proceed. Once we have this paid off, we plan on tackling other larger rooms.

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" x 3-1/4" Hickory:
The color variations are beautiful but do pose a challenge trying to blend them more naturally than splotches of almost white to almost black. It requires time to do this. One needs to figure this factor into install price/cost.

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" x 3-1/4" Hickory:
We found out that the mill has slight variations in the width of their product. Care must be taken to ensure each row uses the same width board or else you end up with small gaps and misalignment. You can't just grab pieces and install due to the 1/16 to 1/8 inch diffs in the board widths. Seems small but it has an effect. Multiple installers warned me of this issue from wood purchased at Lumber Liquidators but cost was a factor

Comments about Builder's Pride 3/4" x 3-1/4" Hickory:
For the most part this product installed easily and looks great.
Being that it is a natural product, there was quite a bit of variation in color from box to box. The first 7 or 8 boxes I used had more short and light pieces. The rest had more dark long pieces. I was still able to get an even looking floor, but it definitely took some careful planning.
Probably about 2%-3% of the pieces were unusable. Some were cracked, had rough edges, or were warped too badly. Some had marks, like a permanent marker, that appeared to be under the finish. These defects are what made this a 4-star product instead of a 5-star product.

We had the floor installed in our Living Room, Hallway, and Kitchen. I love it. I have darker furniture in the living room and it goes really good, I also have light kitchen cabinets and it looks great with it.
Everyone that has seen it, loves it. I have dropped a few things on it already and it did make a mark, but not very obvious. I have 3 small children with some extra that I babysit and they love riding their cars and it left no mark. A few pieces split when it was installed, but overall we did not waste much.

If I am going to use 16gauge 2 inch L cleats to nail down 3/4 by 3 1/4 hickery flooring....why do I need to leave a gap of 1/2 to 3/4 around the edge.....not a floating floor and I already have floor molding down.... a thin 1/2 bottom round would be ok....meaning leaving at most 1/4 inch gap1 answer

To allow for expansion. All wood flooring will expand and contract throughout the seasons of the year based on temperature and relative humidity. Nailing it down does not stop this movement.Q:

We recommend two ways of installing 3/4" hardwood over concrete, either build a subfloor or float with Elastilon. For details type "Elastilon" here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/custserv/aboutus.jsp?pageName=Flooring101Q:
