Your choice in floors says a lot about you!
Supreme Bamboo by Eco-World Flooring Co. says you want quality flooring at a great price.  This beautiful Eco-friendly flooring is available in natural, which reflects the true color, grain, and growth pattern of the bamboo or carbonized which has a darker caramel tone throughout.

About Bamboo:
Bamboo floors' popularity has increased over the past few years as people have become more aware of the fragile state of the environment.
Because it is a grass rather than a wood, it grows far more quickly than a tree. The plant's extensive root system continually grows underground and it replenishes itself naturally, as grass does.
New growth, which springs out of the ground and can mature up to 24" in  24 hours and unlike trees, bamboo will regenerate quickly, making it a renewable resource.

Carbonized Bamboo: Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within, to change its color.

CARMALIZED BAMBOO FLOORING

By Sarge

Pros

  • Easy To Install
  • Great looking floor
  • Joints Were Very Tight
  • Very Eye Appealing
  • Went In Very Easily

Cons

  • Splinters Easily
  • Very Soft Material

Best Uses

The bamboo flooring gave the room a very dramatic appearance with a lot of character and made our guest bedroom a sight to be seen. It was easy enough to install with the right equipment. The tongue & groove was very tight fitting and sometimes very tough to put together. Stapling no less than 2.5" from each edge. Watch for flaws in the tongue & groove and don't use. The only thing that was wrong was that there was a blonde piece in the mix. We installed it thinking that it was going to be a piece in, every so often But the next blonde piece didn't happen until 6 boxes later. Now my entire floor is carmelized except one natural piece a third of the way through the floor. Very disappointing. We ended up putting the bed in a spot we did not want to put it in, but it does hide the one natural piece.

Bamboo floor for yoga space outstanding

    By Doug in Denver

    from Denver, Colorado

Bamboo flooring really established atmosphere we wanted for a yoga/meditation room. 3/8 in was easy to do myself. A little more splintering than hardwoods, but manageable. Got advice to for an extended aclimatizing period for Denver's very dry climate and this seems to have worked well. Great price when on sale.

i love the way the floors look. it was scary when the first run delivered had several flaws. lumber liquidators replaced the entire load and now they are really great. Five Star flooring was a great referral from the company to install the entire downstairs in one week. we came home each night to a new section of the house as a new delight. they also kept the house clean so we could live and not suffer too badly during such an undertaking

    bargain flooring

Worked great and looks great in an old house. I could count on one hand the number of bad pieces out of 8 boxes. The 3/8's was also very forgiving in some very unlevel areas. My dad was impressed and commented that "you'd never have done that with 3/4" hardwoods".

I must preempt my comments by saying I've never done this before and I did not use a licensed contractor to install this floor. I've learned a few lessons: always buy a little more than what you need for the small areas, buy the accessories at the same store and use a licensed contractor.

I bought this wood for my 3 yr old daughter's 9 x 10 bedroom. We had carpet down previously and discovered that she has allergies. I bought the wood after reading several reviews. I opted to not buy the accessories at the time of sale as I wasn't sure what to buy. After discovering that nailing would split the wood and that the floor had a slight slope so glue was out as well, the installation took about 5 hours. We're very happy with the way the wood makes the room seem larger and it's been very easy to maintain. I bought a Swiffer. The floor looks so good that I plan on using it in the rest of the house.

This is a solid product at a great price point, installed a little under 1000 square feet in 4 upstairs bedrooms. Pulled from 4 boxes to mix up the light and dark pieces, this gives it a great look and not blah like all one colored bamboo can be. So far appears to be durable with no issues. All pieces are the same length so be sure to cut/stagger the joints. TIP: The 'cut' piece from one end can become the first row on the next course, use your head when laying it out.

We are in the process of purchasing a home with this very similar colored bamboo flooring. We really would prefer darker a lot darker. Can these be sanded and stained? I would hate to rip out the flooring just to replace it when it is in such good condition. If it can be stained is there a preferred kind/brand?

            A:

            BAMBOO refinishing

If needed, bamboo flooring can be fully re-sanded and finished about three times as any other species

A typical floor sanding involves using a special (drum) floor sander, edger, and a buffer/ polisher with a disc attachment for holding sand paper and buffing pads. The sanding procedure starts with a course of medium grit sand paper. After sanding the entire floor, repeat with a medium grit and complete sanding with a fine grit sand paper. This produces a fine surface and is ready for finishing.

However, because bamboo is a grass it tends to get “fuzzy”, “burns” or heats-up faster during sanding. Using a medium grit paper, approach sanding at a slight angle to the grain direction then graduating down to fine course, similar to sanding soft yellow Pine.

In most cases, a full sanding is usually not required, just a “buff & re-coat” or “screening & re-coating”. Buff & re-coat is light sanding using an industrial type buffer that removes surface scratches, cleans, and prepares the floor for new top finishes. This procedure really depends how the floor was used or abused. In general, high traffic areas; kitchen-dinette would need to be re-coated sooner than a bedroom or formal dining room. If your floors have been treated with any “non-hardwood friendly products” such as; waxes or has heavy wear patterns, or has lots of dents, then it would need to be fully refinished (Sand & Finish).

The techniques of sanding and finishing bamboo do require higher skills and are best left to professionals.

Here is the Suggested Sequence for bamboo sanding

First Cut: 60 grit paper at a 7-15 degree angle with the grain

Second Cut: 80 grit straight with the grain

Third Cut: 100 or 120 grit (CHANGE SAND PAPER OFTEN)

            Suggested Sequence for bamboo Screening

First Screen: 100 or 120 grit

            Second Screen: 150 grit

FINISHING: All surface finishes have been used successfully with bamboo. Darker colors will tend to show overlap marks. (NWFA) National Wood Flooring Association

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

I will be installing it throughout my new house which is an open plan/layout. Should I install it under my kitchen cabinets or should I install the cabinets first and cut the flooring around it? Also since it will be glued down on concrete does it matter which direction (vertical to the house or horizontal to the house) it is installed.

Flooring should be installed AFTER cabinets are installed. This is because flooring needs to expand and contract freely. Expansion gaps are needed around perimeter and around any fixed vertical obstructions. Quarter Round molding or shoe molding is used to cover the expansion gap.

Protect your new flooring when returning any moved appliances.

Running along the longest and straightest wall is common and generally looks best. Running perpendicular to floor joists is required unless subfloor is strengthened by additional plywood for an overall thickness of 1 to 1-1/4". Then you can run it any direction. (Plywood needs to be layed perpendicular to original with 1/8" gaps for expansion and use ring shank nails on a 6-7 inch pattern over floor joist. Liquid Nail between is an good idea too but not completely necessary.) Many times flooring is laid on a room to room basis. Running along a focal point like a fireplace or prominent windows or doors is also common practice.

I would not recommend this flooring for heavy traffic and dogs. Horizontal Carbonized is relatively soft and Supreme has a lesser finish than our Morning Star brand bamboo. My recommendation for pet resistant bamboo is a Strand Morning Star. Super hard and excellent finish. 7 coats of Treffert or Klumpp (made in Germany) highly resistant polyurethane finish with aluminum oxide anti-scratch and a 55% gloss.

Regardless of the floor you choose, keeping nails trimmed is a good idea. Another idea is to cover nails with vinyl claw covers.

This is a product of China.
The adhesive that is used in bonding our Bamboo, Cork, Engineered, and Laminate flooring products contain very low amounts of Urea Formaldehyde. We feel that our products are very safe and most meet California CARB Phase I or California Phase II regulations, which is listed on the boxes. We also list MSDS sheets for most of these products on the Lumber Liquidators website “Flooring 101”.

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
