    I am installing a vinyl laminate floor and it butts up to carpet. Can I use the vinyl reducer to finish off this area? And does the vinyl flooring go underneath the transition piece or does it just butt up to it?

      Usually an end-cap is used as a transition to carpet instead of a reducer.
