Morning Star Bamboo- 1/2" x 5" Stained Solid Click Strand French Roast Bamboo Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- 30 Year Warranty

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

Great looking floor

Installation went well. A few mistakes were made but that was our fault, not the flooring's fault.

I will buy this product again...for the upstairs now!

Pros

  • Easy Installation
  • Love the color
  • Was On Sale - Inexpensive

Cons

  • Scratches By Large Dog

Best Uses

Flooring was put in the entry hall, living room and dining room. Love the dark color...gives each room a warm look. Wish the color ran a little deeper into the bamboo as it scratches a little easy as I have a large dog that slides on the floor when she's playing. Other then that...I love the flooring!

We put this in our 3 bedrooms when we moved into our new house. Bummer waiting for it to acclimate, but wanted to make sure we followed the instructions to have a beautiful floor, and it worked! We chose the dark and it looks great, but be prepared to do sweeping every day! Overall amazing product and can't wait to do the other rooms in our home!

The acclimation time frame is a bummer, but it's well worth it. We got a moisture meter to gauge how far/close we were to installation. They look beautiful!

    Cons

    Best Uses

We were directed to this floor by the salesman because we were looking for a strong and durable floor for the majority of our square footage. We chose the dark color despite knowing that it would show every crumb and smudge. We have found them to be very durable (a household of 7 and pets). Furniture dragged across it has left a scrape, but we've dropped many cans, worn shoes on it, etc and have not had any issues. I do wish we'd chosen a lighter color because even I couldn't imagine the maintenance. We sweep or mop and it's dirty in five minutes. It shows little footprints, which is my biggest complaint. However, this is throughout our entire home and I'd still choose it in lower traffic areas like a master bedroom.

      Stay AWAY!

      Pros

      • BEAUTIFUL
      • Easy To Install

      Cons

      • Creaks A Lot
      • Scratches very easily
      • Shows EVERYTHING

      Best Uses

Where to begin... We renovated our entire house with this flooring for 2 reasons: we loved the color and it was relatively inexpensive for a wood floor.
Installation was easy since it's a floating floor, but it really doesn't sit very well (responds too much to humidity/creaks a lot). The other posts are spot on with how easily this stuff scratches; and not only scratches, but scratches pure white so it shows much more than a regular scratch. That's our major issue with it. It's been installed for about 6 months now and the light scratches are starting to blend together a bit so it's not as bad, but still a shame. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have gone with engineered hard wood instead. They seem to be more reliable, as bamboo is so new still.
Color does show all dust and dirt, but that just means you'll have to keep it clean!

        Scratches VERY easily

        • Scratches very easily

        Best Uses

Other than the amazing color, the ONLY reason I went with this wood, is because I was assured that it was pretty much impossible to dent and scratch it. That sounded perfect, because my husband and I want kids within a year or two. That was a flat out LIE. The non-sharp plastic on my Swiffer left a HUGE, DEEP gash in the wood. Any furniture legs will scratch. Little grains of dirt/sand under your feet will scratch.

We got married and purchased our very first house in a 4 day period. This flooring was our very first investment into our house, and we did our WHOLE house with it, and it was the worst mistake ever =( It's a shame, too, because the color is soo gorgeous.

I installed this floating floor and experienced roughly 1/2 an inch of contraction. Is this normal? The box ends were cut open and left in the room for 3 weeks prior to install. What would cause this?

                  A:

Depends on the glue used, T&G adhesive = water, urethane based adhesive = mineral spirits. always use a soft cloth and buff dry immediately.
Always refer to the clean-up recommendations on the glue container.

                  A:

We do not recommend bamboo for radiant heat systems. Wood engineered flooring can work when the surface temperature of the subfloor never exceeds 85°F in any location. Read instructions carefully for any selected engineered flooring for radiant heat.

I haven't heard of this type of heat requirement for any flooring being installed under a range in my 30+ years of experience in the industry. Usually heat and clearance restrictions are from the cook top surface.
To answer your question this product is recommended to be kept between 60 & 90 degrees F.

                  A:

Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.

We don't recommend using a iRobot Scooba because it puts down water and could damage the floor or scratch the finish. We recommend using a water base urethane cleaning kit . That can be purchased at our local Lumber liquidators store or any Home Center.
