This tarp saved my hardwood floor purchase.. I bought 120sqft of Bellawood White Oak flooring. While inside the store paying for my purchase the bottom decided to fall out of the sky and it started pouring rain. I got the tarp to cover my flooring in the back of my pickup and drove 53 miles to home without one square millimeter getting wet and the tarp looking as new as an hour earlier 53 miles at 70mph.. not one single fray.. I now use the tarp as an over head cover while working on projects my fincee has for me remodeling our house...

Hydronic Radiant Heat is okay under this flooring however radiant matts/pads can heat too quickly and damage the flooring; check with the radiant heat manufacturer for their recommendations.

While FSC Certification is gaining in popularity, it is only one of many initiatives designed to promote ethical forest management/conservation. True FSC Certification requires supervision or custodial of product from seed to manufacture which some of our vendors participate in.
Lumber Liquidators offers flooring brands that practice responsible harvesting. People that make their living in timber know the importance of sustaining healthy forests. Without a well-planned growth cycle, they simply are out of business. Tree cutting is monitored very carefully within a selective cutting and replanting strategy. At Lumber Liquidators, we believe hardwood flooring is a natural, healthy choice—for both you and the environment. Thank you for your inquiry.

                    • Q:

We are hearing lots of creaking and crackling after laying the flooring down. We did a lot of prep work, scraping and evening out the floor, and put an approved underlayment over the concrete sub floor. Is it just settling, or is this a condition that is likely going to last?

                        A:

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.

                        A:

Wood flooring is a dynamic material subject to changes in dimension as a result of changes in humidity in the surrounding environment. It is recommended that the rooms that will have refinished wood installed be climate controlled with temperatures of 50 to 80 degrees F., preferably 65 to 75 degrees F. humidity of 35% to 55% maintained. In addition, the rooms should not be closed off from a normal air flow. Therefore with prefinished flooring, you will experience problems in a non-environmentally controlled area. Our most stable flooring is our engineered, bamboo, and laminate. They too recommend climate control in their expressed warranty's.

Urethane finish can't handle the dimensional changes that take place with extreme environmental shifts, HOWEVER you can use an unfinished hardwood (preferably quarter/rift sawn) finished with tung or other natural oils as with covered porch flooring. These site finished penetrating sealers expand and contract with the flooring without cracking.
