we installed this in our great room, hallway and kitchen. it was my first hardwood install and it went very well. I had practice on three laminate installs previously. we undercut our brick hearth and slid the wood under, it looks incredible ( i highly recommend that look). the wood was in excellent condition. we are going to use the leftover ( and purchase more) and carry the install into the master bedroom. it is a hard wood, if installing yourself use a high quality blade on your saws. attached pic of floor during last part of install.

The floor is great!! Don't use if you don't want to see dust go with a lighter color. Otherwise, this product is great. Very satisfied.

I had this installed in 3 bedrooms, living room/dining room and hallway.
I loved the look when first installed and polished. The redness when it catches the light is gorgous. It is darker than I thought though, and matching furniture is tricky.
The reason I do not recommend this hardwood is that in all rooms, even unused ones, I see that the edges of planks have thing strips chipped off. I have only lived with these for 3 weeks. The edges seem very soft, and can peal off revealing lighter wood color.
The dust shows very easily on these as well. And I have made quite a few drops ust by dropping items that are not even that heavy like a phone.
On a positive note, there was very little waste (5% or less), and all planks seemed to be the same size. Color variation is very nice and not too drastic.
I was thinking to buy more for the foyer but considering how it chips and dings easy, I will pass.

We used for our kitchen, it looks beautiful, but I do regret using it in such a high traffic area like the kitchen because it dents and scratches a lot easier than i expected. We put large dents marks when we rolled refrigerator back into room and my schnauzer put 2 big scratches as soon as she came into new room. I'm hoping as the floor gets worn and used marks will not be so noticable. I guess it will have a lot of character marks as we use our new kitchen.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery took longer than stated, not a lot of help getting a date from store. One box of wood flooring was damaged, was able to work with. Customer service was friendly, but gave me misinformation.

I have installed 1 of 3 rooms so far. It looks beautiful. Be careful though, I have had 2 boards that are a 16th smaller than the others. This caused a gap problem that I could not fix since I didn't notice it in time. Other than that, the floor came out well.

Great product. Very consistant board width except the short boards. Most of the shortest boards were 1/16"-1/8" more narrow then the longer boards. Once this was realized, installation went much better. Only one damaged board in 500 sq/ft of flooring. Very happy with product and will use again in the future.

This is a superb product. All the research I did on line caused me to expect at least some defective pieces. We had NONE. Every single piece of wood could be used. The floors look superb. I have the impression that they will wear well, though it's only been a matter of weeks. We are also careful - no outside shoes, etc.
Service and delivery comments:
JJ, our salesman at the Frederick, Maryland, store, was polite and knowledgeable. He was a pleasure to work with. Delivery was exactly as promised, and the man who delivered the wood took great care as he brought it into the house. Very positive experience.

This floor is absolutely beautiful. We recently bought a house that needed new flooring and debated whether to run hardwood through the first floor of our ranch style home. We did and we love it. Very rich looking. Even though it does show the dust and animal hair, we still recommend because hardwood floors should be swept frequently to keep dirt at a minimal and maintain wood beauty.

We are looking at the Cherry Malaccan in the 4-3/4 width. We are concerned if the shade will get lighter or darker and if so, what causes the change in shade?1 answer
A:
All wood species can change color over time due to oxidation or when exposed to light. In some species, the change can be more dramatic and may darken in color over time, while others tend to lighten. Currently there is no known value set for Patina or color change of a species so contractors and or customers should be aware of this normal condition. The patina process is unrelated to the urethane finishes. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
I will be installing over a subfloor that is 3 3/4 inch tongue and groove fir planks nailed to floor joists (over a vented crawl space). Should install the Malaccan Cherry perpendicular to the fir planks? or perpendicular to the floor joists? The fir subfloor is in very good condition.1 answer
A:
The flooring needs to be installed perpendicular to or on a diagonal (45 degrees if the subfloor planks are perpendicular to the joists) or you could install a 1/2" layer of CDX plywood and install the flooring in any direction.Q:
