Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 3 1/4" Maple:
It's hard to impossible to find a light gray maple unfinished. I wanted to stain my maple but was worried about the unfinished product I would receive. The quality was excellent, and I have the light gray maple--finished myself--that I wanted.

Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 3 1/4" Maple:
Very high quality wood and uniform color for select grade. Floors came out beautiful!
We used a professional installer and a custom stain color.
Do some research though on staining maple. Although the boards have light grain and uniform in color, maple will mottle and show flames. We like the color variations, but just be aware of this. Also it is difficult to get the exact color you want. You will be somewhat though dependent on what the maple will give you - so it is important to do sample testing of colors on the boards to see what it will look like. Custom color staining may be best left to do by a professional. Our color is Early American with some red and clear added.

Q:
Can this product be installed in a sub-basement? The house's inside temp will be kept consistent. I just want to be sure this product is able to be installed in a basement type environment. The house is in North Dakota (eastern) and it can get humid during the summer time; however, the AC will keep the house temperatures from fluctuating too much. Thanks for any help!1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, however we approve basement installation of solid hardwood flooring installed with Elastilon as your installation system. Elastilon Self Adhesive Underlayment is a good option for any flat subfloor. You can use up to 3/4" thick or thinner solid or tongue and groove engineered flooring (works best with 1/2" or thicker). Floating with Elastilon needs to have an expansion break for spans over 33' on it's width, but not length.Q:
The spec says 3-1/4", description says 2-1/4" - 5". Just want to make sure that the box will only have 3-1/4", before ordering.1 answer
