NIRVANA by Dream Home- 8mm Mill Town Antique Cherry Laminate Flooring- 25 Year Warranty

Dream Home's Nirvana line of laminate floors will fill your home with harmonious style.
This product has it all: an 8mm moisture-resistant core PLUS a 3mm pre-glued sound-proofing foam underlay, the feel of real wood grain and a 25 year warranty.

Quick Installation Tips:
- Designed for glue-less laying, and must be laid as a "floating floor".
- Subfloor must be clean, flat, smooth, and level.
- Moisture barrier is recommended for installations over concrete.
- Make sure the panels are mixed sufficiently when you install them so that you do not end up with too many identical, light or dark panels next to each other.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ADDITIONAL PADDING:
Laminates having pre-attached padding can also be installed over an underlayment. When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of our Bellawood Premium underlayment or ECO Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments will best support the joints while ensuring superior thermal sound reduction qualities and are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

NIRVANA Flooring Advantages:
- Real wood grain
- No glue and no nails needed
- Easy Click Installation
- Moisture resistant board
- Thickness: 8mm + 3mm pre-glued underlayment
- AC Rating: 3
- 25 Year Warranty

Bad stuff

By Gal

from Wesley, AR.

Verified Reviewer

Pros

  • Looks Nice

Cons

  • Cheap Quality
  • Chips easily

Best Uses

Put it in a bedroom - had to be very careful or the edges chipped. Drop a tool on it and makes a chip. Not good quality at all. Maybe you pay for what you get, but think all products should be better than that!

You get what you pay for.

    Pros

    • Easy To Install
    • Looks good

    Cons

    • Chips easily
    • Very Limited Patterns

    Best Uses

Make sure you open and check your boxes. I purchase five boxes and in two of them all but one of the planks was the exact same pattern and it was distinctive enough that it would have been very noticeable. Luckily they were the first boxes I opened so I alternated them with planks from the other boxes. If they had been the last boxes I opened I would have had a big problem. This product also chips easily. This is the fourth laminate floor I've installed and it is by far the most fragile and the joints are the loosest.

      Service and delivery comments:

The people at my local Colonie store are fantastic. I have bought flooring there three times and they have been very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back if the need arises.

They were on sale!! But I was excited that this laminated floor looked like natural hardwood floors. They look amazing and makes the room a lot larger

I installed in my 26 foot camper, tends to get gritty. I like the tightness of the joints, hopefully the pattern wont wear through too quickly.

                                  A:

Yes Laminates can be installed on stairs. For safety reasons these must be fully glued using urethane adhesives, do not use underlayments.
Laminate flooring can be used to cover a set of stairs but due to the overlap design of the stair nosings it would not be my first choice for a full flight of stairs.
We also sell replacement stair treads, retro-fit treads and risers. Thank you for your inquiry.

Laminates are rated based on the Abrasion Rating System (AC). The Mill Town Antique Cherry has an AC rating of 3; which means it is suitable for heavy residential, light commercial applications. My wife and I really like this pattern but are hesitant to use an 8mm flooring for our newly remodeled basement floor. Is it OK to use 8mm flooring in a temperature controlled basement?

Yes it can. With proper installation and care this flooring will last for years in this application. You can find complete care and installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the specs tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.pdf

I have a seasonal cabin without any heating or cooling. There are wood subfloors currently and the floor is several feet off the ground. Will this type of flooring hold up when winters get below freezing? If not, any ideas?

Our Prefinished flooring products are not recommend to be installed in a home that is not climate controlled year round. Most of our products require the temperature of the home to be kept between 60F to 80F with humidity between 35% to 55%. However, we do sell unfinished quarter/rift sawn flooring that would make for a good choice in a seasonal home as long as the flooring is acclimated properly and a good penetrating finish is applied to protect the flooring in that environment.

I would be placing this on the first level of my home, sub floor, would you have to add anything additional for padding/barrier or can we just start laying the product down?

No additional padding is needed but you may want to put down a layer of 15 lb roofing felt to protect from potential moisture coming from below.
