Comments about Casa de Colour 1/2" x 2-1/4" Mocha Oak:
We had this installed when we bought our home 4 yrs ago. We only had 3 weeks before we had to be moved it so I needed something in a hurry. My preference was an unfinished product but time wasn't on our side. I am not a huge fan of oak flooring because I don't care for a lot of grain. The reason I selected this particular one was for the color. I didn't want anything that had a red, orange or yellow tone & while I love the look of the very dark stain, it shows dust something terrible. We put this on the entire first floor, about 1400 sq ft including the kitchen. It does scratch & dent easily unfortunately, especially under the sofa & chair legs. I suggest putting felt pads under everything to help prevent this. Most of the wear is in the kitchen because I have dropped keys, pans, etc. A stain touchup pen helps disguise scratches. The sample photo of this product doesn't look accurate because once installed it is a true brown color. It does show dust more than a light stain but it's not awful. Ideally this floor would be great in a seldom used area or with large area rugs. I would not install it if I had pets or children. I can live with the dents & scratches because for me the color was the most important thing.

Comments about Casa de Colour 1/2" x 2-1/4" Mocha Oak:
The floor is only a couple of months old and has scratches in it, however, we do have big dogs, so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect. The smaller width made it faster and easier for our installers and we had a lot of leftover product that we may use in a smaller bedroom. I am satisfied with the quality/value of this product.

really like the finish, but wish it came in 3/4. alittle worried about the floor creaking over time. doesn't seem quite as solid as other hardwoods in the house.

Comments about Casa de Colour 1/2" x 2-1/4" Mocha Oak:
Since our house was built on a concrete slab, we glued the floors down. My husband and I layed 1100 sq. ft. of flooring and it took us 12 days - this includes all the work to prepare for the flooring including removal of carpet and to put everything back in place including baseboards and quarter rounds. Before we glued the floors down, we had to trowel on a vapor barrier directly to the concrete and let it dry for about a day. I recommend to anyone who is going to use the vapor barrier that you mix it thoroughly before pouring it out and troweling. The directions don't actually say to do this, but it will save you much valuable time because the mixture separates; it is watery thin on top and super thick on the bottom and difficult to trowel. Also, do not get this product wet...do not attempt to wash anything off in the sink containing this product because moisture helps it cure. The glue we used was Bostik's Best. They recommend a certain size trowel (1/2 in. x 1/2 in. square notched) that was impossible to find at [...]. We ended up buying one that was 1/2 in. x 1 in. We then used blue painter's tape to tape off the trowel to the recommended height of a 1/2 in. As one can imagine, troweling out vapor barrier and then glue can get very messy. I strongly recommend using the blue painter's tape to cover all trowels b/c the product gets very sticky, gooey, and hard while you are working with it for hours. When there is too much build up, let it dry and simply peel the tape off and you will have a brand new trowel! Use latex or vinyl gloves while applying these products because they can be difficult to wash off your skin, especially the vapor barrier. When you lay the flooring down in the glue, you can use a pry bar to pull the rows tightly together. Use blue painters tape to hold everything together and do not walk on it...the floors will slide apart slightly and leave gaps. If you don't find the gaps and fix them in time, they will dry like that in place. When we purchased the flooring, we planned for 10% waste. There was virtually none. Less than 1% of the flooring had to be tossed. We were not expecting this! The boards were not warped or damaged in any way.

I (meaning my dad) installed this flooring about a year and a half ago in my living room and kitchen. It does scratch easily so I make the effort to take off my shoes and have my guests do the same. I found a stain pen at [...] in a dark finish that works wonders on minor scratches and dents. Of course you can still see the scratches when you look for them, but it's nothing that that takes away from the overall look or function of the floor. For a starter home, this is just what I needed and I think I paid a reasonable price for it.

Comments about Casa de Colour 1/2" x 2-1/4" Mocha Oak:
Wow, this floor leaves marks so easily I wish we would have known better prior to purchasing. We fell in love with the color and the idea of hardwood in the kitchen. Our contractor had to redo the boards because of nicks and we won't be able to have any friends over with their shoes or high heels do to the thin and softness of the wood. Definitely would choose another wood if we were given another chance. Not worth the money at all.

Comments about Casa de Colour 1/2" x 2-1/4" Mocha Oak:
This wood is so beautiful! We were fortunate enough to get the 3/4" mocha oak profile [...] We got it at [$]/sqft on the yearly super sale in April, but we had to buy the whole remaining lot. It was a perfect amount to completely redo our living room and hallway and on the rental side of the duplex we bought, we also had the kitchen and entry-way done. The wood has a beautiful matte, yet shiny finish. It's dark but not too dark, and we love how it doesn't have any "Red" hue to it. This way, we can comfortable put our cherry - color furniture on it without it looking weird. We could not be happier!

My housekeeper used a cleaner that has left a sticky residue. How can I take this off without hurting the finish?1 answer
A:
Not knowing what the residue is I would use some warm water first on a lightly dampened cloth. If that does not work I would apply mineral spirits on a cloth then rub over the sticky area. Once the residue is removed clean to area with a light dampened cloth, then buff dry with a dry cloth. You may also be able to put some ice in a plastic bag over the residue to harden it. If it hardens you can use a soft plastic putty knife to scrape it off the finish.
