Lisbon Cork- 13/32" x 11-5/8" x 35-5/8" Mora Cork Flooring

Quick Highlights:

DURABILITY - 25 year warranty same as traditional hardwood.
DESIGN - Architects, Designers and Home Owners love the color pallet and fashion patterns of cork.
COMFORT -  Cork is resilient which relives stress in the back and legs when standing on our floors.
WARMTH - Cork takes on the temperature of the room. Great for warm or cold climates.
QUIET - Cork is great for sound deadening due to the honeycomb cell structure of the bark. This reduces sound within the room as well as between floors in multi-level structures.
EASY MAINTENANCE -  Just sweep and spot clean for many years of use.

Lisbon Cork Co. Ltd. Fine Cork Flooring combines the beauty of a natural material with the comfort of a cushioned surface. It is durable, acoustical, and a great insulator.  The bark of the cork tree is peeled without destroying the tree and it grows back within nine years, ready to be harvested again. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a joy to live with. Cork is considered a green product because the same tree can be harvested numerous times.

        • General living area

Great for sound dampening, look and feel. A bit longer to get used to sound of walking on floor.

Ensure nothing gets on pad and under flooring that would cause bump or bubble.

        Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was delayed a bit by largest material movement for major April Sales. Existing customer orders should not be delayed for future sales material. Exceeded promised window fulfillment.

Goes in as floating floor. Clicks together. Builder said it was fast and easy, but I didn't do it personally. Barely see the seams at all an in just he right light. Know you're getting long rectangles, not square tile that is visible.

Overall we are pleased with the look and feel but were quite surprised at how easily flooring chipped. I have already purchased the patch kit to fill in superficial scratches.

We installed this in a fairly narrow kitchen that leads in to a pantry, and this was the first time we ever installed this kind of product. It is tricky to work with in a small space, and took some thought at times as to how to maneuver it. We did have lots of cuts because of the shape of the floor, and that made it much harder to do. But we love the final product!

Nice looking product and well packaged but with misleading installation instructions. Would not assemble or stay together using the given directions. I finally achieved a satisfactory install using a pullbar, a hammer, and (what I felt) was too much force.

              Service and delivery comments:

The delivery was great. The product was in good condition and well stacked and packed for delivery. However, customer service was lacking. The person I spoke with at the store was not familiar with the product. He gave me the customer care number but when I called no one was available, they were all in a meeting. When I finally did get a call back it did not sound as if they were familiar with the product and could not provide me with any guidance.

We put this floor in a small bathroom, and it is beautiful! While researching cork flooring for the bathroom, we read that it is a good idea to apply a couple of coats of polyurethane to the finished floor for bathroom installations, even though the cork has a lovely finish already. The poly gives the floor a warm sheen that really highlights the texture of the cork.

Had purchased cork floor from major home improvment store, all of the pieces were damaged and the overall quality was so poor I had to return the flooring. Went to Lumber Liquadators for the first time and got a better quality product and a better price then the major home improvement store. I'm a true believer in lumber liquadators!

We put this flooring in our kitchen. Looks amazing, holds up well with 2 dogs and a kid. It did scuff in one section and we cannot figure out what caused it. Other than the big scuff mark, it looks great. Color matches our hardwood perfectly so it transitioned very well. We are very pleased with this product.

I wanted hardward. My wife wanted carpet. We ended up with cork. I took one evening to pull up the old carpet and then the afternoon and evening the next day to install the floor. The only tough spot was the last piece which had to go under a door frame. I couldn't lift the piece up to make a easy tight seamm. Otherwise, it was every easy to install.

Yes you can put appliances on this flooring product. Being cork (a soft material) it may compress but should bounce back, I recommend using floor protectors for this application.

We put this floor in every room of our basement, including the kitchen. We absolutely we love it. We would like to protect it with additional finish. I have read that we should use water based polyeurathane. Is there a particular brand we should use and do we need to do anything to the cork before we put poly on?

                      • CUSTOMER CARE

                        A:

No additional sealer is recommended for this flooring, however it can be done but at your own risk.

Our Lisbon cork floors are finished with seven coats of floor grade water-base urethane. There are many good brands of floor grade water-based urethanes appropriate for corks, several are two-part mixes. A lamb’s wool applicator or wide paint brush works best for total surface coating. Rollers will tend to generate or trap "foamy" air bubbles into the finish. Normally sanding is not required in-between coats of water-base urethane within 48 hrs of application. However, if light sanding or abrading is required between cured coats, avoid steel wool as traces left behind can rust; use nylon sanding pads or very fine sandpaper. For the best application follow the labeling instructions from the sealer manufacturer.

                        A:

Yes, cork can be applied over radiant heat using two different installation methods. When doing so the radiant surface temperatures should never exceed 85 degrees. The system should be running for at least 1 week. Then bring the flooring into the work area to acclimate 3-5 days before installation. See our "FLOORING 101" for related acclimation and radiant information.

Here are two basic methods for installing cork flooring over radiant subfloors

                        CORK TILES *glue-down

Cork tile flooring should be adhered directly to the plywood or concrete subfloor using a latex waterbase contact cement approved for radiant heat applications. Remove any surface sealers and contaminates that could cause a bond failure with the adhesive. The subfloor must be dry before installation can proceed.

                        Floating Cork

Floating cork products are also excellent for radiant heat installations and are designed with freedom to expand as a unit. These products are manufactured with a man made (HDF) High Density Fiber core and cork is applied on the top and bottom. The advantage of this type of cork floor is that it requires no adhesives or nails for proper installation and allows the homeowner flexibility if they ever decide to change the floor covering. When covering cement slabs (on-grade or below-grade) use 6-8mm plastic sheeting as a moisture barrier, omit this plastic when covering wood sub-floors. Floating corks are installed without underlayment. However, if using a pad underlayment best practice is to use a dense type pad such as; Bellawood Premium underlayment, Eco Silent Sound HD, or 1/4" cork underlayment rather than a foamy pad. Cork seams need supporting.

Heavy grout lines can be filled. Ceramic tile can be leveled or filled with ARDEX FEATHER FINISH

Would like to install floating cork flooring in my kitchen and living room. Kitchen cabinets are already installed...concerned about the thickness of the floating floor reducing the kickplate
area under the cabinets and about the transition to the laminate flooring in the dining room. Would the floating cork floor be too high/thick to transition?

I recently bought a house with Lisbon cork floors in the family room and kitchen. I would like to know what product I can use to mop the floor and where I can purchase it. Damp mopping with water does not remove the grime.

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.

This limited residential warranty is valid from the date of purchase of the flooring up to the number of years indicated on your invoice and 5 years for commercial foot traffic.

This could be used in a restaurant if maintained properly.

For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.

Bellawood Cleaner works well, find here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/s/flooring-molding-tools-accessories/floor-care-products

In addition, Bona Kemi makes good and safe hardwood flooring cleaner.

Do not use oil-type cleaner of any kind.

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
