9/16" x 5-1/8" Stained Nantong Strand Handscraped Bamboo Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- 30 Year Warranty
- Glue or Nail Installation

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

Handscraped
Handscraped or distressed floors have a natural or worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.

Beautiful, warm and elegant

Pros

  • 100 Bamboo No Veneers
  • Rich Color
  • Very Little Warping
  • Wide Boards

Cons

  • Requires Upgraded Blades

Best Uses

We installed 600 sqf of Nantong Bamboo in our upstairs hall and seamlessly flowed it into both bedrooms and down the steps replacing the old carpeting. This flooring is quite substantial and sturdy. Solid bamboo-no layers or veneers. None of our boards were warped. The color is warm and bold without being too dark or too red. The scraped surface adds a rich texture to the rooms and we noticed the hard finish actually bounces light further into the rooms brightening the environment. Our home feels like it received an upgrade!

There is a beautiful black laquer that is applied to the distressed edge marks and recesses of the rustic surface. So, to blend in any exposed cuts (like the stair tread sides), we just gently sanded the cut end edges lightly with rough sandpaper and applied a little semi-gloss black enamel to it. It was a perfect Match! I imagine any future marks and dings could be doctored in a similar manner.

In the near future, we plan to continue with Nantong Bamboo in the house, adding another 1000sqf of it into the main floor living room and office. But only if it remains available. Please do not discontinue this flooring! Keep it in stock!

Looks great four years later

By Heather

I installed this in the living room, dining room, kitchen, and hallway of my condo ~ four years ago.

It was a glue-down installation over concrete subfloors. I did have it professionally installed, so can't comment about that part.

There are a few minor scratches and dents (dropped an iron just right, moved something wrong, etc.) -- The scratches covered pretty easily with the liquid scratch filler you can buy at the local grocery though. Overall, it's nothing that you'd notice looking at the floor as a whole.

I get all sorts of compliments on the floors. I'd do it again.

I have a mid century modern home with terrazzo floors i am restoring in Sarasota. There was an old patio room off the master that was enclosed years ago and carpeted. I pulled up the nasty carpet and put down these gorgeous bamboo planks instead, transforming it into a great meditation and yoga room. They look great, feel good under foot and compliment the adjacent terrazzo beautifully. Very happy with end result. And with the Labor Day sale and 24 month same as cash financing, a pretty good deal.

      bamboo flooring

      By lraine64

I love this floor. It is in my kitchen, entry and hall bath. I have 3 dogs and was worried about the hardness of the floor and it's ability to handle the traffic it gets. Beautiful and functional. Beats the laminate that was down all to pieces.

I had my contractor install in my living room and three bedrooms... we ripped up all the old damaged 60's oak. I cannot say personally about the install itself since I did not do it, but my contractor did mention the hardness of the bamboo and had to read the mfr's recommendation regarding the nails, staples to use. From there it was a breeze. The Long lengths look great and I love the color, not too brown, not too red and the handscraped, wire brush makes it look antique looking, but to me this would work well in both older traditional styles as well as contemporary. I am very pleased with my purchase and I cannot wait to be able to move back home, clean off all the saw dust from my remodel and enjoy the new floors... :)

I self-installed ~200 sqft in our guest room and will later do the remaining 1200 sqft of our second story. The finished results look great. It takes some time to get used to working with this stuff as it is extremely hard. My jig saw was ok, I had to get additional blades for the mitre saw, the circular saw was bogged down, and my multi-tool started smoking a little. In the end, all of that is manageable. The width and length allowed me to fly through a 14'x14' room very quickly. I had to use my normal 18 guage finish nailer on the first row as well as the final 3 rows due to the proximity to the wall. I had a few bad nails, but nothing major. With 100 psi and max depth the finish nailer did just fine face nailing. The 50p is a must for the general install. At 80 psig, there were no issues.

So far, the flooring looks great. We had a few chips from the pull bar on the last few rows, but overall it is holding up well. It adds a lot of character to the room.

is Bamboo water resistant? ok to install in kitchen/bathroom?
Asked on 5/23/2014 by Joe from United States

            • Staff Reviewer

              A:

Yes, Bamboo is acceptable for installation in a kitchen or a powder room. It is recommend to put a throw rug by the sink because an excess water can damage wood. You will need to wipe up any water that sit on the floor as soon as possible. However a full bathroom that is showered in everyday may not be the best location for bamboo. Often there is too much water on the floor or humidity that can be absorbed into the flooring resulting in board edge cupping. Resilient and Tile floors are a better choice for these areas.

Some homecenters and paint retailers have stain matching computer software which can give you a perfect match.

              OR

You can use multiple stains and/or thinner to achieve the correct color. This is a regular occurrence, remodelers, homeowners, and contractors alike achieve perfect matches with experimentation. Start with small cans until you find the right combination.

Yes. If needed, bamboo flooring can be fully re-sanded and finished about three times as any other species. The techniques of sanding and finishing bamboo do require higher skills and are best left to professionals.
