Is this necessary for engineered wood over main floor concrete? The house is about 15 years old.2 answers
A:
[CAUTION] Most installation failures result from jobsite moisture.CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes. Troweled on Moisture Barrier is recommended if subfloor is on or below grade concrete. Always use the same manufacturer of moisture barrier and adhesive or combo type adhesive moisture barrier.Q:
I have an (40-year) old hardwood floor installed over a plywood base over a concrete slab. The plywood is elevated from the concrete slab (approx. 1/4") by slats spaced approx 12" apart. This provides some "give" in the boards over the slab. I would like to install new hardwood over the slab in a similar manner. Is this process recommended and if so, would this product be applied to the slab before floating the plywood base for the hardwood? Would there be a need for an additional vapor barrier? Can I still use a padding inbetween the plywood and the hardwood for softness and sound deadening?1 answer

We are planning on laying down Bellawood Engineered Brazilian Cherry flooring on concrete, do we need to use this product as well as a moisture protecting underlayment?1 answer
A:
MVP - Bostik Moisture Barrier is just that; a moisture barrier. you will need the adhesive (Bostiks best or Dura-Grip) along with this barrier.Q:
How "pure" does my concrete slab need to be in order to apply MVP4?1 answer
A:
Unfortunately quite "pure". Old cutback adhesive is a bond buster.Q:
I am wanting to use this product to cover a few cracks in my slab before installing a glue down bamboo. Is it OK j=to just cover the cracks or should i cover the entire floor? and should i level the floor first as there is also one spot that need to be built up?1 answer

Im laying wood floor over concrete this weekend. I need to lay a moisture barrier down but i had a few questions. If i lay the MVP 4 down how long do i have to wait till i can apply adheasive, then my wood floors? And was wondering what sort of a trowel I should use for the best results on both the MVP and my adheasive.1 answer

A:
MVP requires 12 to 16 hours cure time. Moisture barrier uses a 3/16 x 5/32 inch trowel. Hardwood flooring with BBA adhesive requires a 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 inch trowel for 3/4" solids. 1/4 x 3/16 x 1/2 inch for 3/8" up to 1/2" solids. I've got an older slab home from the late 40's. We have hardwood down that came with the house. We know there is a moisture problem as the floor is starting to get wavey and seperate in some areas. I plan on pulling up the flooring to inspect it and most likely refinish it in the process. It looks like there is a clear plastic with some blue foam under the floor right now. I plan on using the MVP4 to coat the slab, then install the quik walk underalyment, and the put the floor back down. Would this be the correct approach in trying to minimize the moisture coming through the slab and reaching the floor again?1 answer

any point in using this product over a wood subfloor?1 answer
A:
Not really, I would use our 15 lb roofing felt or Silicone vapor sheild.Q:
I am planniing to install a laminate floor over concrete at grade. I am going to use underlayment with an attached polyethaline moisture barrier. Do I still need to apply this product? If so, whatis the best trowel to use for application?1 answer
A:
A laminate floor does not get glued down, I would however recommend putting down our 6 mil poly moisture barrier first. and then your underlayment.
