Just finished installing 500 sq ft. It is beautiful. The wife loves it. Yes, cherry is a soft wood, darkens with sunlight and has color variation. That is the nature of the wood and one of the reasons it is so attractive. Use it in bedrooms and other low traffic areas. Don't let large dogs with long nails on it. Use pads on the furniture. Adjust the power nailer so you don't break the tongue. Pre drill when you blind nail it. It goes down easily. Make sure you have a boot on the nailer and don't drop tools. It dents. The boxes contains varying lengths so you can put together combinations with essentially no wastage. I had one knot in 26 boxes and my longest wastage was 3". Sure beats carpet.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Natural American Cherry:
This is a GREAT product, but I did find a major drawback. I have installed this in my living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom. I did all of that in 2009-10. I finally got around to doing another bedroom, and had 1 1/2 boxes left from the previous installation. I ordered the EXACT same product and planned on consuming my left over wood in that installation. The problem is the milling has changed. The tongues and grooves on the stuff I just got is at least 3/32 lower, meaning there is a very noticeable ridge between the old boards and new boards, even though they are exactly the same product. Unfortunately, that means that now I won't have enough material to finish my project. Otherwise this is five star stuff, but it is a bit susceptible to dings and dents if anything is dropped on it. Be forewarned if you have leftovers you plan on using in your project.

It installs easy. It looks great but several piece were already scratched and that concerns me about the durability. It has been only down for two days so will see how it lasts. I was concerned about buying a prefinished product. I feel that finishing it yourself always holds up better. I wish I bought the higher grade then natural. I had to cut around some actual holes in knots.

We put his in our kitchen,LR and stairs. Very pretty color with nice variations--contractor complained about how soft wood was and he did make dents with nailer gun and hammer. Dogs have not scratched it even with it being such soft wood. Also, seems as though the seam edges could be caught easy. Since it has only been down for about a month, not sure how it will wear. Just 2 of us so hoping we won't have many problems because I really do like the color and how easy it is to clean.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Natural American Cherry:
We were so excited to put this beautiful, colorful wood in our Family Room, Kitchen, and Living Room. It's been in a year. We're empty nesters and knew that "traffic" would be light since there are only usually two of us on the floor. Natural Cherry is VERY SOFT. The least little thing will dent the surface. "Tongues" split easily during installation. Surface imperfections along the seams seemed frequent. Color Variations are beautiful but, INDIRECT sunlight has darkened the flooring severely in just twelve months. I'm even contemplating finding UV film for my windows!

Very nice flooring but caution needs to be applied while installing. Voids in knots were the most common but ANY moving on the new floor needed to be protected or the floor would suffer minor scratching. Overall good floor. [...]

We had our contractor install this in our new walk-in master closet and now wish we had also done the master bedroom and living room. We'll have that done this summer - waiting for it to go on sale. I paid full price and it was well worth it. Everyone raves about our closet and the floor is a big reason. Easy to clean, too. Love it, love it, love it.

What is the best under layer to place under this product and can it be layed on concrete?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
For naildown installation 15lb. Felt Paper. For concrete, we don't recommend gluing 3/4" hardwood flooring on concrete. Engineered has a dimensional stability recommended for gluedown on flat and level tile or concrete. All 1/2" and under Solid Hardwood (and certain Virginia Mill Works and 3/4" shorts) can be glued as well but On or Above Grade only. Troweled on Moisture Barrier is recommended if subfloor is on grade concrete. Always use the same manufacturer of moisture barrier and adhesive. You can glue to concrete free of contaminates, moisture and sealers.Q:
