Unique and durable, Australian Cypress is a stunning wood with a variety of tones, ranging from cream to honey brown. About "Natural Grade" Flooring:
Natural Grade flooring has some color variation, mineral coloring and small knots. It can also be referred to as #2  or Third Grade. Natural grade flooring will have a slightly longer average plank length compared to Rustic grade products.

This product is proudly finished in the USA.

It Taber Tested "the Best." When subjected to the industry sandpaper abrasion test, known as Taber Testing, Bellawood's durability results were more than double most comparably priced floors. There's good, there's better and then there's Bellawood.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Bellawood finish does not seem to be hard nor durable.

I purchased this flooring material for a remodeled bedroom. This is the first experience I am having with Cyprus. I have done about 10 floors using solid 3/4" material (oak and hickory primarily, a maple - all have been exceptional and are mostly all installed in rental units I own) and this does not stack up to any of those. I have also done about 15 floors using 1/2" engineered materials. While this flooring definitely stacks up to the feel of a 3/4" floor I would say every 1/2" material finish has been superior to this material. I haven't even moved furniture in yet and the finish is showing more and more scratches, mainly just from walking on it. There has not been an excessive amount of dust in the room nor tools dragged around on it, just seems to scratch very easily. Either the finish or the wood here can not take anything. Having worked with the wood now I am leaning toward the manufacturer's finish is soft and can not take any abuse. In other words I don't think I will buy another Bellawood product.

I will also say to expect alot more scrap. The biggest disappointment in installation was it seemed every nicely featured piece had some sort of split or dent or tungue or grove missing or major scratch in it. If you wanted to use them you needed to loose good portions of the boards and had to place alot of the feature pieces at the beginnings and ends of rows.

Australian Cypress

Pros

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • Easy To Install

Cons

  • Expensive

Best Uses

  • Throughout the house

We have the australian cypress on the entire 1st floor of our home. We have 2 large dogs. The factory finish stands up very well to their claws. However, the area we had refinished has not held up very well. Not sure if this is due to finish applied by contractor or what. But area with original factory finish is still pretty much scratch fee

Installed in kitchen. Great look with 5" plank, consistent finish, very little waste/damage. A bit brittle/fragile resulting in some cracks where stapled, not bad though. Extra care would have prevented the cracking.

We recently purchased and had the 5.25" wide Australian Cypress flooring installed in our family room and great room. We honestly couldn't be happier with both the product and the installation. The flooring is absolutely beautiful. It has many variations and knots which is just what we were looking for. The finish is great! The installers (ones we used through Lumber Liquidators) were prompt, friendly, courteous and overall just great. They showed up when the said they would, kept things neat and clean and did a fantastic job. Thank you Lumber Liquidators for our beautiful flooring!

Australian Cypress Bellawood Floor: I did not install this myself and I recommend that you use a professional to do it. The floor is beautiful and has a rustic charm to it. The knots in the wood give it a wonderful look and it fits perfectly in my kitchen. I couldn't be happier about the final product. Well worth the price!

Our Bellawood floor cleaner does not contain any polishes ,wax or anything that will build on the surface and is recommended to be used on all our flooring products. I do hear of this scenario often enough and it always prooves out that there was another cleaning product used previously on the floor that is reacting to the Bellawood cleaner. Most likely once the residue is removed from the original factory finish the floor can be maintained easily. Thank you for your inquiry.

Love the floor but it scratches really really easy. Is there anything that we could use to apply over the finish to harden the finish and make it more durable?
                Asked on 4/13/2012 by Anonymous

                1 answer

                • Staff Reviewer

                  A:

Why doesn't the warranty cover scratches and dents?
Scratches and dents are not covered because individual use can vary. Also, most manufacturers do not guard against wear conditions driven by consumer use of a product, including flooring products. Scratches and dents are beyond a manufacturer's ability to control.
Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
You could reseal prefinished flooring after it is installed, but this would void the finish warranty on the flooring and create extra expense for you after already buying a new floor with a 50 or 100yr finish warranty. It is best to only add a new finish when the old finish starts to wear more than you like or if you have a lot of scratches you want covered up. We recommend that you use a professional sand and finish expert if you did decide to add a new finish to the flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.

We do not recommend steam mops or Roomba Scooba robots on our laminates or on any of our wood floor products. Although appropriate for kitchen sheet vinyl or ceramic tiles, wood, laminate and cork floorings have raw seam edges that can swell or cup with use of these cleaning methods. We recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Thank you for your inquiry.

As this will be going in a large room I wanted a wider board. Will the 5 1/4" Cypress "cup"

                  A:

All wood flooring species will cup regardless of the width if it is exposed to excessive moisture.
Narrower boards will show less cupping than a wide board. the key is to keep the flooing dry.
                  JOB SITE INSPECTION
For best performance, wood flooring should be one of the last items installed. Heating and air conditioning systems should be fully operating and running at least 7 days before the installation. To prevent moisture related issues such as board edge cupping, all wet work involving water or moisture (plumbing, ceramic tiles, drywall finishes, painting, etc.) should be finished with ample time allowed for complete drying prior to wood floor installation. New concrete should be cured and at least 60 to 90 days old. ACCLIMATION/CONDITIONING OF THE FLOORING
All wood products are affected by environmental conditions especially prefinished materials. Acclimate the new flooring in the areas to be installed to normal lived-in conditions while in the boxes. If products are protected in plastic, only open the ends of the boxes. To prevent board warping, twisting or bowing, only cut the outside plastic support packaged bindings when ready to install. Length of acclimation time is not the determining factor. The goal is to reach an indoor equilibrium or environmental balance between the “core” of the new flooring with its surroundings before installation. This balance could be achieved in as little as 1 to 5 days, or longer for some exotic species. For best performance, condition the flooring to consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%. Very dry or humid regions of the country usually require extended conditioning. Recommended acclimation levels maintained even after the installation will help to minimize board movement, excessive squeaks and gaps. Proper jobsite conditions, acclimation and moisture testing the subfloor and new flooring and all work together for the success of the installation. This is the responsibility of those overseeing the project.
