Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress:
I purchased this flooring from Lumber Liquidators almost 10 years ago for my active family room. I had a 120lb dog for 7 of those years. The floor has indents from the dogs huge nails but the finish never scratched off. The knots and other natural elements of the floor hide the indents well. I just use a floor steamer to keep it clean. I recently changed an area in that room and as luck would have it, Lumber Liquidators came through again. The new flooring matches up perfectly. During construction no one put down a drop cloth and the floor still looks great. May I add that we installed radiant heat under the sub floor in this room. We carefully increase the heat by 2 degrees until we get to the temp we want and all's well. No buckling. Cypress is a great hard durable wood. Perfect for an active area. The finish is durable.

Everyone that came to my home has loved this flooring, and commented on how unique it is. I used the 5" throughout, and the 3.25 for a closet. Most people remark on how they mightn't have picked it off the shelf but love how great it looks.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress:
I replaced the carpet in the living room and stairs. Although my carpet was not that old, the wear of it due to constant vacuuming and carpet steam cleaning. The installation of the floor was rather easy (with the right tools)however quite a few of the planks where damaged and also cracked easily during the installation even though I allowed the recommended acclimatization time frame of 10 to 14 days.
Service and delivery comments:
I picked up the hardwood at the store as it was in stock. out of the 8 boxes approximately one and half boxes were damaged (cracks at ends and through entire board).
The service I received was outstanding. I was given all the right information to facilitate a stress free installation.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress:
I had it installed professionally when I bought a condo in 2008. It is absolutely stunning and the people that installed it did a great job. I LOVE the look and people constantly comment on how pretty it is, but shortly after it was installed I noticed how easily it scratched and that the finish lifted easily. It is also VERY difficult to clean without streaking. Luckily since it has that knotty look and a lot of colors to it, people don't notice the scratching and finish right away. It is certainly a form before function type of flooring.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress:
We purchased the Aust Cypress for a soon to be media/game room. Right now, my boys use it for a bedroom while I work the rest of the upstairs. I have to say the floor looked great when I finished installing. I'm an above average do-it-yourselfer, but the first time I've installed 3/4" nail down flooring. The rustic look of the Austrailian Cypress was what my wife was looking for. If you like/want that "Log Cabin" style of the knotty wood, you'll love this flooring. Gorgeous when installed; Absolutely!
However, there is a price to pay or a con side.
The floor splits easily when nailed. I chose nails over staples as the staples split the tongue more easily. Many small splits I just let go. A few boards I did tear out again after most of the tongue split off; rare. Again, first time on this product for me. Take the time to check boards and mix them up. Found some stock out of the box with finish issues and cracks through the boards. That's a problem with this type of wood. Saleman warned that Aust Cypress has a higher cull rate. Just used the poorer or damaged pieces for end pieces, etc. to make the most of all the wood, or in the closet. Did order plenty extra.
Still have three boxes, two opened, going into another part of the house. I'll be mixing two styles in a square and border affect. Back to LL for more flooring.
Installed this flooring over roof felt and sub-floor.
I have installed glue-down engineered floor before. That was a real pain to install. I'd think twice (or more) before I would do that again. I much prefer the nail-down.
Wood does scratch easily, but I haven't noticed a scratch through the finish. Still holding up there, but flooring is not in a high traffic area. Moving furniture into the room, we rubbed the edge of a couch leg across it right away. Hate it when something like that happens shortly after install on a brand new floor. But, what can you do.
We've had this floor down for 2-1/2 years now and it still looks very good.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress:
Our install went great with very normal waste. The color variation was ideal and the quality of the individual pieces was spot on. Seems to be a tough product for cypress. Used the salmon color rosin paper with just enough staples to hold in place. We didn't use a threshold transition as we were able to face nail with no visible marks. We will do the next bedroom with this same product.
My wife and I are very satisfied with the whole prosess especially with the folks at the Auburn hills, Michigan store: namely Dan and Kayla.
Thanks Again!!

Q:
Would you recommend this for kitchens?1 answer
A:
This is Bellawood and would work wonderfully anywhere in your home with the 8 layer finishQ:
I'm planning to install in bathroom. This won't be a problem will it?1 answer
A:
Due to the excessive moisture present in a full bath we cannot recommend any of our natural flooring or laminate products for this application, I would suggest one of our vinyl Tranquility products. We have a 2mm peel and stick and now a 4mm click together product that can go in full bath areas or where moisture is a concern. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
what type of "finish" does this have. Gloss. high gloss, satin,? what would you use to fix scratches?1 answer
A:
Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty! (The exact formula is propietary information) The formula for the Bellawood finish is a custom mix that has a 50/50 gloss. The sheen you get is shinier than satin, but not as shiny as semi -gloss.Q:
Can this be used in basement1 answer
A:
This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.Q:
How does this product handle being installed over radiant floor heating?1 answer
A:
For radiant heat applications we recommend the use of laminate flooring or engineered flooring first. For solid wood flooring quarter sawn lumber works well. The Bellawood Australian Cypress could work, but the home climate and the radiant heat system would have to be controlled and monitored. In many cases you will have to run a humidifier in the room when you have the radiant heat system running. The heat can dry out the moisture in the wood, thus making the floor board contract and shrink. If the planks loses too much moisture it can create checks or splits in the wood or finish, normally seen around the knots of Australian Cypress so it is very important to control your home environment to consistant levels between 60F to 80F and humidity between 30% to 50%. Turn on and off the heat system gradually so it does not cause shock to the flooring.Q:
what about pet stains1 answer
A:
Pet urine contains uric acid and ammonia which can cause a finish to dull and can discolor a hardwood floor typically making it a dark or black color in appearance, especially if the pet urinates in the same spot over and over again. Cleaning with water and ammonia may not be a good idea as some urine contains ammonia so the animal will be attracted to the same spot again. Spot cleaning with a mixture of warm water and vinegar on a lightly dampened cloth will clean the floor and take care of the smell. Immediately after cleaning buff the area dry. A board replacement can be done for any damaged planks.Q:
I have either particle board or plywood on my groundfloor with a basement underneath (we haven't removed the carpet yet). Do we need to use an underlayment? If so, what type?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
For solids you need only 15lb felt or red rosin paper. We recommend PS2 RATED OSB or Plywood. Particle board is fine for any "floating" laminate, engineered, or bamboo flooring. Otherwise it should replaced. Nails will not seat and hold well on particle board.Q:
what is the length of each board1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Random lengths from 12" to 70" or 60" approximately.Q:
what dimensions to I measure to get sq.ft.?1 answer
A:
Measure length and width.Q:
Does this contain formaldehyde?1 answer
A:
No it does not.
