Morning Star Click Bamboo - 1/2" x 5" Prefinished Solid Natural Clic Strand Bamboo Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- Backed by a 30 Year Warranty

Natural: Bamboo in its natural, unstained state.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

    Great looking bamboo floor

    • Great looking
    • Reasonably Priced

    Cons

      Best Uses

      • Hallways
      • Master Bedroom

Natural click strand bamboo looks really great in the master bedroom and adjoining hallway on the 2nd floor of our home after replacing worn carpet. Installation requires some know-how and good tools but its relatively easy to install in large rectangular rooms. Maintenance and cleaning are extremely easy with a good wood floor cleaner and dry mop or towel. The only complaint is the increased sound levels in the bedroom and living space below because we sacrificed sound dampening the carpet/pad previously provided.

      Great quality and easy installation

      By Paul

      from New Cumberland, WV

      Verified Reviewer

This flooring was very easy to install myself. Hard part was moving everything from the room to start. Like all wood products this material has some splinters but the splinters from this bamboo flooring are very sharp and can be tougher than normal to remove. ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES and avoid sliding your hands along the board edges. Click install was very simple and made for a very tight and great looking joint. Do your research if you plan to install this yourself. Learn about staggering joints, best tools for cutting and spacing or you will find yourself with more waste than expected. Overall a great product and reasonable price. Be prepared to sharpen or replace cutting edges as this flooring is very hard and makes sharp edges dull very quickly.

      Service and delivery comments:

Self install. Picked up on site. Only hold up was the transition was not in stock and took about a week to get.

Flooring is super hard, this is a plus to avoid high traffic damage.
Get the Bella top line base layer to put floor down on worth the extra$.
Get a new blade for your chop saw to ensure a clean cut of this hard material.

Picked up product, all was ready and loaded into my truck for me

My wife and I installed this in our dining room over a weekend. Had to take the rug out and to the dump. Getting the first row in was slow but then it just flows. No problems with clicking. Cull too dark and too light boards. Also some boards had fill in the ends. You can use those for starters or ends cutting off the bad ends. I'm using the culled boards for a chair pad in my office. To avoid splinters, don't slide you hand on the boards. Grab them and hold them. Almost wore out the blade on a carbide finish blade. These are tough boards. A jigsaw worked fine for detailed cuts. My fesstool saw ripped well, and cut along the wall at the end. My dogs like the floor and it feels hard as a rock. The sales folks at the San Jose store where great with advice and getting the trim pieces for transitions.

Transitions. How to make a transition from carpet to the bamboo floor? I have 2 transitions to accomodate, one about 36", the other about 15'. Both will be straight.

I am not aware of any "formula" that can accomplish this as every job is different.

Unfortunately this would not be considered normal household conditions or commercial foot traffic.
          LENGTH OF COVERAGE
This limited residential warranty is valid from the date of purchase of the flooring up to the number of years indicated on your invoice
and five (5) years for commercial foot traffic.
          WHAT'S COVERED
Your Morning Star floor is warranted against finish wear from normal household conditions resulting in the exposure of the bare
          bamboo.
It is also warranted against grading, finishing and milling defects in excess of the waste factor. Waste factor is an industry term that
refers to an allowance for manufacturing and natural defects in flooring and is represented by a percentage. While board selection may
vary according to personal preference, waste is determined by NWFA standards. Generally waste will be no more than 5% to 10% of
the total square footage of your purchase. However, waste may be higher based on room layout, product description, or grade.
          WHAT'S NOT COVERED
Moisture (or Lack of Moisture): Damages caused by moisture (such as leaking pipes, spills, wet mopping, pets, relative humidity,
subfloor moisture, etc.) are excluded. Moisture (and dryness) can cause issues such as checks, cupping, crowning, warping, buckling,
          peeling, twisting, or gapping.
Other Site and Environmental Conditions: Defects or damages resulting from extreme indoor conditions (such as extreme heat,
radiant heat, or exposure to sand); indentations and scratches (caused by pets, furniture, appliances, tools, heels, toys, etc.); improper
maintenance and accidents; misuse and abuse; and any wear that conflicts with the care and installation instructions are not covered.
Gloss reduction: Fading or loss of gloss is not finish wear and not a product defect.
          Within
          You can find complete warranty and installation instructions on our website through the Flooring 101 web pages Browse Categories;

Is Bamboo flooring (click and lock type) compatible with in-floor heating (hydrophonic)? Installation is done by professional.
Asked on 12/1/2015 by DB from Michigan

        • Staff Reviewer

          A:

          Yes you can.
RADIANT HEAT SYSTEMS General Precautions and Recommendations
This flooring can be successfully applied over radiant heating systems, surface temperatures should be maintained and never exceed 85°F, (30°C). Because of the wide array of systems on the market (Hydronic, embedded in concrete, electrical wire/coil, heating film/mat) each with its own features and applications it is recommended that the user consult with the heating provider for best practices and installation methods. It's the user's responsibility to confirm the suitability of any selected or existing radiant-heating system that will be used in conjunction with this flooring.
Rugs placed over radiant heated flooring can increase the surface temperature in that area by 3°- 5°F degrees.
Please refer to http://www.radiantpanelassociation.org/ for more information on radiant heat systems.
          Humidification
Radiant heat contributes to the drying out of wood flooring. For optimal floor protection the indoor humidity must be maintained between 30-50% year round. Proper humidity levels are maintained by use of a humidifier. To protect your investment and to assure that your floors provide lasting satisfaction a whole house humidification system may be required. Failure to do so can result in edge cupping, squeaking, delamination, splintering, cracking or other issues. Slight surface splits particularly at the ends of planks should be expected with installations over radiant heat and does not constitute a product failure.
When using adhesives over radiant heating systems
As a rule, make sure (RH) is turned off for 3-days before and after installation for proper "cure"
Exceeding 100° surface temperature will result in bonding problems.
Confirm with the adhesive manufacturer/literature the application and surface temperature limitations of your selected adhesive.
All Bostik hardwood adhesives, including urethane and polymer adhesives are acceptable over (RH) Mapei 995/Exmore Pro Plus and 980/Exmore Basic are acceptable over (RH). Use 995 for moisture protection over hydronic (RH) Modified Silanes (e.g. 985/Morning Star) not recommended

We are installing this beautiful bamboo flooring throughout our home; it really is easy to do! I wanted to know what is the best way to clean our new floor? I read different things on line, but don't want to try anything yet until I know for sure the safest way to go.Thanks!

        • Staff Reviewer

          A:

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk. Thank you for your inquiry.
How do I care for my floor / which cleaning products are best?
Proper floor care precautions are provided on the product installation instructions and on our website under Flooring 101 by typing in Floor care dos and don'ts (LL pdf)

      • Q:

Can I use "click" flooring throughout a studio apartment, including under kitchen cabinets, the refrigerator, bookcases, and media center? I have read that floating floor cannot be used under "heavy" items, but I don't know what qualifies as "heavy." Also, I have a thick pine floor nailed to a plywood subfloor, over a concrete slab (high-rise construction). Should I remove the pine floor and use the existing subfloor? Should I also remove the subfloor and go right down to the slab? Would I be better off removing the pine and nailing to the subfloor? (I want to use strand-woven bamboo, but am flexible as to installation method.)
