Morning Star Click Bamboo - 1/2" x 5" Prefinished Solid Natural Clic Strand Bamboo Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- Backed by a 30 Year Warranty

Natural: Bamboo in its natural, unstained state.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

This flooring was very easy to install myself. Hard part was moving everything from the room to start. Like all wood products this material has some splinters but the splinters from this bamboo flooring are very sharp and can be tougher than normal to remove. ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES and avoid sliding your hands along the board edges. Click install was very simple and made for a very tight and great looking joint. Do your research if you plan to install this yourself. Learn about staggering joints, best tools for cutting and spacing or you will find yourself with more waste than expected. Overall a great product and reasonable price. Be prepared to sharpen or replace cutting edges as this flooring is very hard and makes sharp edges dull very quickly.

          Service and delivery comments:

Self install. Picked up on site. Only hold up was the transition was not in stock and took about a week to get.

Flooring is super hard, this is a plus to avoid high traffic damage.
Get the Bella top line base layer to put floor down on worth the extra$.
Get a new blade for your chop saw to ensure a clean cut of this hard material.

My wife and I installed this in our dining room over a weekend. Had to take the rug out and to the dump. Getting the first row in was slow but then it just flows. No problems with clicking. Cull too dark and too light boards. Also some boards had fill in the ends. You can use those for starters or ends cutting off the bad ends. I'm using the culled boards for a chair pad in my office. To avoid splinters, don't slide you hand on the boards. Grab them and hold them. Almost wore out the blade on a carbide finish blade. These are tough boards. A jigsaw worked fine for detailed cuts. My fesstool saw ripped well, and cut along the wall at the end. My dogs like the floor and it feels hard as a rock. The sales folks at the San Jose store where great with advice and getting the trim pieces for transitions.

I used this on a Concrete Slab, followed directions to the tee. Had no warped boards and it seems like the Bamboo acclimated with the environment that it was placed on. So far so good and it looks GREAT......

The boards are very precisely made so they click together smoothly with very little gap between them. The final look is great.

This was my first flooring project (565 sq ft), so I got a friend to help. Installing flooring of any kind is a lot more work than I thought. Cutting this bamboo just right for doorways and hallways is a pain. For your handsaw detail cuts, get a utility blade or a blade for metal. A wood saw blade just won't work on bamboo with a handsaw.

That said, my friend was very impressed with this flooring, and its quality. Installing in a square room with no closets is pretty easy. I did a floating install on concrete with underlayment, and I'm not noticing any noise issues. I also only have a 1/4 gap around the walls since it's summer. We'll see how that works out.

It looks so much better than the carpet and laminate flooring in my house.

                    Service and delivery comments:

I ordered the products online and picked it up at the store. I just rented a truck from a home improvement store and they promptly loaded all 30 boxes. The sales people seemed nice and they really liked the bamboo flooring, but I didn't get a lot of installation advice from them.

Lot Doesn't Match the Others Purchased

                      • Different Locking System
                      • Doesn't Match Other Lots

                      Best Uses

I bought the bamboo to re-floor our house - 4 bedrooms and a hallway upstairs & living, dining and family rooms downstairs. I didn't want to pay the expensive delivery fee so I bought the wood room by room and picked it up from the store. The first two rooms were easy to install and looked beautiful!

We started the 3rd room and the wood not only looked significantly lighter, but the locking system seemed to be different b/c we couldn't lock pieces from the new lot into the older lot. The wood also seemed to weigh less and seems "cheaper." (We're actually going to weigh wood from the two lots to compare.)

I'm going to try to exchange the wood but we've already opened the boxes b/c we were told by the salesmen that the wood needed to acclimate to the house environment for 2 weeks before being installed.

Unfortunately, what started out as an exciting home project has turned into a very frustrating experience.

The space it needs if it gets humid is way more than you would ever think. Leave at least a half inch all around the perimeter, get wider trim if you need to. Fixing the buckles is a real pain and sometimes entails lifting the floor back up. They suggest one quarter inch, don't believe it! We had these boxes open and in the house for MORE than 6 months, and it still buckled. We still LOVE the floor!

The Strand Bamboo was used in a Master Bedroom for a lady in her 70's. She is very hard to please and like products with consist coloring. The Natural Strand Bamboo along with its Hardest was the perfect choice for her application. We added to more rooms in the white washed Bamboo. will be installing it July 7th. Please make sure that you acclimate 2 weeks before installing.

I want to put this type of flooring in the hallways and stairs. Is this a good choice for stairs? Which strength would be the best for installation? There is very little traffic?

A stranded bamboo product is a great choice for your application, keep in mind that the stair nosing an "overlap type" for this floating click product and will not be flush with the tread.
You may want to consider our nail/glue-down bamboo products that come with a flush nosing.

All flooring should be installed AFTER cabinets are installed. This is because flooring needs to expand and contract freely (also makes future repairs easier) . Expansion gaps are needed around perimeter and around any fixed vertical obstructions (cabinets). Quarter Round molding or shoe molding is used to cover the expansion gap. Without the expansion gaps in place you can experience buckling of the flooring if it expands with cabinets fastened to it; essentially binding the flooring from normal movement due to temperature and humidity variances.

I recently learned that there can be an issue with shrinkage and a bamboo floating floor. Has this product had a history of shrinkage? If installed by LL, would the product be warrantied against shrinkage? Thanks.

All wood and natural bamboo (grass) products are affected by environmental conditions, especially prefinished materials.
To control wood movement- expansion or shrinkage- it is recommended to acclimate the new flooring in the areas to be installed, not in (garages, U-Haul trailers, sheds, or tents) to normal lived-in conditions while in the boxes. If the products are protected in plastic then open the ends of the boxes. Length of time is not the determining factor. The goal of acclimation is for the core of the product to reach an equilibrium or moisture balance of the new flooring with its surroundings before installation or fastening. This balance could be achieved in as little as 1 to 5 days, or longer for some dense or oily exotic species.

                            Avoid shocking the floor.
Just like you, wood actually performs best with consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%. Very dry or humid regions of the country usually require extended conditioning. Maintaining the recommended acclimation levels even after the installation should be viewed as ongoing floor care. Your doing so will help to minimize board movement, excessive squeaks, finish cracking and gaps.

Hygrometers sold in most Target and Wal-Mart stores ($10-$45) can be used to easily identify the need to regulate the humidity or air moisture.
In addition, to prevent board warping or bowing, do not cut the plastic support bindings on the outside of the packaging until ready to install. Store products flat, in a dry place. Provide air flow under and around cartons. Do not store directly on bare concrete or next to outside walls. Cartons should be placed as close to the center of the installation area as possible.

Proper jobsite conditions, acclimation and moisture testing of the subfloor along with the new flooring all works together for the success of the installation and is the responsibility of those overseeing the project.
You can find complete installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the installation tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.

We purchased the 1/2" x 5" click lock flooring. I know you want to put the flooring up against the cabinets and not on top of the floor, but can we install the flooring and then put our refrigerator on top of the floor? And the same with our washer and dryer? They are in separate rooms.

I have a linoleum floor by Armstrong in excellent shape. It is a glue down around the edges only. Can I put the bamboo flooring directly on top of this? It doesn't seem to be any different than the underlayment I used for the other 2 floors I have installed. The linoleum is over a flat wood sub floor.
