About "Natural Grade" Flooring:
Natural Grade flooring has some color variation, mineral coloring and small knots. It can also be referred to as #2  or Third Grade. Natural grade flooring will have a slightly longer average plank length compared to Rustic grade products.

Crafted Meticulously. Harvested Responsibly. We understand the importance of healthy forests. That's why we only buy from suppliers who practice responsible harvesting and carefully manage their cutting with replanting strategies in place. For us, it's not just about being responsible citizens. It's about being a responsible business too.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Beautiful floors with character!

By Pam in LA

from Porter Ranch, CA

I took A LOT of time to research wood floors versus the other options, such as laminates. Since I have fairly large size dogs and two young kids I was concerned about the wear and tear. After taking wood samples from many places, I noticed Pergo laminates and the hickory from LL both held up well when we did a little hitting with a mallet test. Pergo looks fake to me however, and doesn't add as much resale value to the home if I ever sell, so I went with the hickory. I was kind of worried about the color variance in the wood, but now that the project is completed I am thrilled with the look! It is holding up well so far, but can't say the dogs haven't added a few scratches here and there. Plus, I have had to make sure to put pads under my furniture, as that certainly scratches the floor, but overall you can't see any real damage unless you look really close. Plus this floor can be sanded numerous times, so I feel like that adds a lot of piece of mind to my investment. Overall, it's truly a beautiful floor and I was very happy with the staff at LL North Hills. They really know their stuff and were very helpful!!

Flooring went down easily, but after acclimation the floor is not as even as it should be for the price of Bellawood. I have noticed a few dents in the hickory after a few months which i did not expect due to the hickory species being as hard as it is. That being said the floor is beautiful and the unique color pattern is really nice. I would recommend this floor as well as the stairnose. The T-mold that I purchased was noticeably darker than the rest of the Hickory floor and stairnose so I would recommend inspecting the color of the T-mold prior to purchase if your local store has it in stock. Enjoy the many before and after pictures.

We installed over 1100 ft in bedrooms, office, L.R. and dining room. I have also just ordered 3" hickory for my stair risers. Beautiful variations, easy install. Efficient use of cut pieces for use in closets resulted in less than 5% waste. Chairs in office are sitting directly on floor(no mats)and leave no marks. Our Boston Terrier has long nails, but has not scratched the floor at all.

We had dark commercial carpet and though it was durable it just needed to go so we decided on a bright hardwood floor to replace it. I was nervous at first on whether we made the right choice going with this Hickory, I was so pleasantly surprised to see how amazing our front room looks now! Its like a new home that we keep walking into, so much brighter and feels like we have a lot more space!

                  • Poor finis q uality

                  • Too many twisted boards

                  Best Uses

We had to rip boards to proper width to match
Could not use many boards because they were too narrow--in effect some boards were 1/16th too wide and others 1/16 too narrow
We expected about 10% waste, unusable boards but we are closer to 15%. What we did an identical room with 7 boxes took over 8 boxes!
Poor milling--wood not seasoned prior to milling
                    and finishing
Finished floor overall looks good, took twice the time it should have, shows too many gaps due to milling problems

Indentions and marring of the flooring can occur when sliding appliances and moving furniture if the flooring is not protected properly. Small dents and nicks can be filled with a matching wood filler product. Badly damaged planks will have to be cut out and replaced.

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factor that influence wear.

For dogs I would recommend low gloss AC 3 rated laminates. You can also use Hard species of solid and engineered hardwood flooring like Brazilian Teak, Brazilian Walnut, Natural Strand Bamboo, Acacia, Brazilian Cherry, and Hickory. Many people even have Red Oak and White Oak flooring in there homes with dogs. The key to protecting your flooring from dog scratches is to trim their nails or cover them with vinyl claw covers. www.softclaws.com
