Q:What type of finish does it have? High gloss or mate?
A:This has 7 coats of Treffert or Klumpp (made in Germany) highly resistant polyurethane finish with aluminum oxide anti-scratch and a 55% gloss.
Q:can this be used in a kitchen?
A:Yes, hardwood is acceptable for installation in a kitchen or a powder room. It is recommend to put a throw rug by the sink because an excess water can damage wood. You will need to wipe up any water that sit on the floor as soon as possible. However a full bathroom that is showered in everyday may not be the best location for hardwood. Often there is too much water on the floor or humidity that can be absorbed into the flooring resulting in board edge cupping. Engineered floors are a better choice for these areas.
Q:Is this product all natural or is formaldehyde used in processing it? If so, what are the levels in this product? Are they less than 0.03 ppm? Do they outgas? Is there any way to prevent it?
A:Regulations and Lumber Liquidators’ Compliance
Q:Do all the boards come in the same length? Or is this a product of random length?
A:This flooring comes in a single board length of 37-3/4”.
Q:Is this bamboo pre-finished or can I seal it after installing the entire room?
A:This is refinished and should not be re-sealed. It has has 7 coats of Treffert or Klumpp (made in Germany) highly resistant polyurethane finish with aluminum oxide anti-scratch and a 55% gloss.
Q:I have this flooring throughout my entire house except the bathrooms and kitchen. I have noticed some separation in some of the boards. Any recommendations on fixing or replacing the boards with the spacing issue? The previous owner installed the flooring.
A:Please call our Tech and Installation Dept. @ (800) 366-4204 for a detailed answer to your question. Thank you for your inquiry.
Q:Does bamboo expand and contract like normal hardwood floors . . . being that it is a grass as opposed to an actual wood?
A:Being a natural product yes it still will expand and contract like a wood floor.
Q:I'm looking to install this flooring on a concrete subfloor. If I use a 15lb felt underlayment, where is the glue to be used? Concrete to felt, felt to flooring, or both?
A:Use a 15lb felt would not be applicable in a glue down application, use of a moisture barrier adhesive is recommended.
Q:We are having bamboo flooring put down in our living room and three hallways. The installer is using the black felt under the flooring. He will be removing the particle board subfloor and be to the plywood for the surface. Do you think the black felt will work o.k. He will be nailing the floor down .
A:Yes, and is recommended.
Q:Can bamboo engineered wood floors be installed over radiant heated floors? I understand Maple and brazilian Cherry are too unstable and should be avoided over radiant heated flooring, but I want to make sure the bamboo properties are such that it can take well moisture and heat variation before I rip the carpet off the bedrooms! Thanks!
A:This is a solid 5/8" product is designed to be nailed to a wood substrate or glued over concrete.
