      A:

Not recommended for "wet" areas such as this, I would go with Porcelain/ceramic for your application.

  • Q:

Is this suitable for in-floor heat?
Asked on 9/7/2015 by Kathy from Belgrade, MT

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

      Radiant Heat
Floating floors (flooring not attached to the subfloor) are ideal for radiant, in-floor heating applications. Because of the variety of heating systems, surface temperatures and application methods, this product is not warranted for radiant heat application.

  • Q:

    Can this product be refinished?
Asked on 8/24/2015 by Michael from United States

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Unfortunately not, but can be "screened & re-coated.
      The veneer thickness is 1mm.
Full refinishing will take slightly under a 1/32" off the veneer of the wood flooring. The thickness of the veneer and how much wear and dents a floor has will determine how many times it can be refinished. Solid hardwood that is ¾" thick may be refinished 4 to 7 or more times depending on how much wood was taken off on each refinishing. Low profile solid wood flooring like 5/16" thick flooring may be able to be refinished twice if the flooring is in good shape. Engineered flooring with a 1/8" wear layer or more will be able to be refinished at least once. If the engineered product has a 1/16" wear layer a professional sander may be able to refinish it, but many won't take the chance in case they make a mistake and take too much off the wear layer. We recommend that hardwood floor refinishing be done by a professional and if you're not sure if you can refinish your flooring have professional sand and finish expert come to your home and evaluate your flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

I have a smaller, 50lb Yellow Lab with nails. How will this flooring hold up to that?
    Asked on 2/20/2015 by Thomas

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

Would I have to do anything to this flooring? (stain) How well would this flooring work in a manufactured home.

      A:

This flooring is ready to be installed. Acclimate the flooring according to the manufacturer instructions and that's it. Follow manufacturer instructions carefully.

Manufactured home; As long as your subfloor is good and flat then definitely.

Subfloors need to be flat and level for any floor. Floating laminate or Quick Click Engineered subfloor needs to be very flat and level with no more than 3/16" in 10' variance or 1/8" in a 6' radius.

Some leveling compounds can be used on wood subfloor under floating flooring with a floating floor; check manufacturers information before using.

Other leveling options are Sand high areas or joints, use wood shims wedged between joists and the subfloor to raise it. Protruding nails/staples should be ground flat. Build-up low spots with layers of 15 lb builders felt, old vinyl, plywood or shims (do not use cement leveling compounds over wood subfloor).
