Morning Star Bamboo - 1/2" x 5-1/8" Prefinished Solid Natural Strand Bamboo Flooring - 50 Year Warranty

Length:  72-7/8"

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Nail or Glue installation
- Backed by a 50 Year Warranty

Natural: Bamboo in its natural, unstained state.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 50 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

      PATINA
All wood species can change color over time due to oxidation or when exposed to light whether it is the sun or light bulbs. In some species, the change can be more dramatic and may darken in color over time, while others tend to lighten. Currently there is no known value set for Patina or color change of a species so contractors and or customers should be aware of this normal condition. The patina process is unrelated to the urethane finishes.
The best recommendation is to wait as long as you can before putting rugs down (usually the patina process takes 3 - 6 months) or simply move area rugs occasionally to allow light to get to all areas. The wood only changes so much and when covered areas are exposed to light they will eventually "catch up"!

  • Q:

I am looking at putting up a wood or wood type ceiling in an unheated space. Is there a product that would work? It would need to be "not" expensive.

Not that I can recommend for an "unheated" space.
Installations of flooring on Walls and Ceilings
We do not have any manufacturer's specifications on how to do ceiling or wall installations, we have had customers install on them using Tongue and Groove flooring. One method used is to ring shank or screw plywood first on the rafters/studs and then fasten flooring to plywood. Softer woods, lower profile (thinner), and engineered flooring would be easier to nail over your head. Fastening can be done with finish nailers or hand nailing. Ring shank nails can hold better than standard finish nails.
Longer average lengths like you get with our pine flooring or v-groove pine can be locally sourced at a local mill or lumber yard can be nailed to rafters on 16" centers. 24" centers could require 1x3 strapping or plywood.
      See - Wall and Ceilings
Laminate may be able to be used on ceilings or walls however attachment is experimental, as they are designed to float over subfloors with no fasteners. A quick setting Construction Adhesive would likely work against most surfaces, check adhesive manufacturer information before attempting. Padding attached laminate flooring would likely require padding be removed.

In addition, Lumber Liquidators regularly tests these products to monitor conformance to these specifications.
