Comments about Casa de Colour 3/4" x 2-1/4" Pinot Oak:
We are getting this 20-year-old Colonial ready to sell. Using the new dark-red oak on the staircase and landing (in place of carpeting) and kitchen (in place of sheet vinyl) and replacing the worn light oak in the attached family room gives prospective buyers a sweeping view of luxury as they come in the front door. Money well spent!

Comments about Casa de Colour 3/4" x 2-1/4" Pinot Oak:
Approximately 25% of this product had defects that would qualify it as "distressed"...not the look we expected. These defects were mostly with the wood: cracks, splits, filled holes (termites?) with visibly darker stain, and damage possibly before or during processing. There were also some issues with the finish...a little thin on some boards. However, the installers picked through the product for the best and asked us about anything that was less than perfect. We understand that this is "natural" wood...but the flawless examples of this product we saw and based our decision on did not fully represent the shipped product. In the end we're pretty happy with our new floor.

Comments about Casa de Colour 3/4" x 2-1/4" Pinot Oak:
As a first time do-it-yourselfer, I found the installation quite easy although there are things I'd do differently the next time around. For instance, I'd go with the 3"+ width to reduce the cutting effort, and plan out the installation efforts better.
Good product at a decent price, would recommend this to anyone without reservations.

Q:
Can this be installed over concrete?1 answer
A:
This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.Q:
can we apply a few coats of varnish over this flooring to seal between seams? this would entail lightly sanding the top with fine grit as well as between varnish layers>>..please advise.1 answer
A:
You could reseal prefinished flooring after it is installed, but this would void the finish warranty on the flooring and create extra expense for you after already buying a new floor with a 20, 30, or 50yr finish warranty. Adding a new finish won’t prevent all moisture from going into the seams. Wood will expand and contract with climate changes. If the flooring were to contract later and create seasonal gapping, a spill can cause water to get into the gaps. It is best to only add a new finish when the old finish starts to wear more than you like or if you have a lot of scratches you want covered up. We recommend that you use a professional sand and finish expert if you did decide to add a new finish to the flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:

What is the appropriate underlayment for this floor above-grade (second story)? Rosin paper or 15# roofing felt? Subfloor is 3/4" T&G plywood over joists 16" OC. Do I need any paper underneath?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
On an upper floor you can use red rosin. Red rosin flooring paper is a uniform flexible felt of organic fibers impregnated with red organic dye. This high-quality, heavyweight building paper can be used for a protective covering and liner. Its primary function is to reduce the friction that occurs when the flooring slides against the subfloor, allowing the wood flooring to slide together more easily. Red Rosin Paper is not waterproof. Avoid its use in suspected moisture areas.Q:
