        We are remodeling our basement. We had concrete floors. We installed underlayment(with plastic) and laminate flooring over the concrete. I can't believe the difference. We had rugs in one room and an old carpet in the other. Had to run a heater in every room just to knock the chill. I can't believe how the laminate has insulated the floors. We have turned off all but one heater and the floor is comfortable on bare feet. It is not cold. The underlayment was very easy to put down. Very satisfied!

            I used this as an underlayment for 9/16" tongue and groove bamboo flooring. It works perfectly. Easy to work with (cut with scissors, not utility knife). And - as opposed to many other underlayments which can be quite stinky - it had a very slight odor when first opened, which went away after airing out for a few hours.

                                Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

                                The underlayment was nearly has hard to cut as had been posted under an earlier review. I would have like a little thicker material but had to bow to the manufacturer's recommendation. I'm in Charleston, SC so we have to wait through the rainy season to see if keeps the moisture down like it's supposed to do. It comes in 33 ft x 3 foot rolls and had very little scrap so that size works well. So far it was good value and about $15 a roll less than the box stores. I ordered the first roll on line - which it took a few days for them to tell me it was "in." The store had some in stock the whole time. I put four of the rolls in the back of a Mustang. Pleased so far, the product is used by a lot of contractors in the area so we should be good. Thanks Lumber Liquidators!

                                  We noticed our installer placed the Quiet Walk underlayment over the vapor barrier felt side up. What are the consequences? Could this be the cause of a creaking bamboo floating floor?

                                    A:

                                    Being installed upside down would not contribute to or cause a floor to squeak, creaking is usually attributed to movement such as an unlevel subfloor or the floor expanding and being too tight.
                                    Quiet Walk is designed to wick sub-floor or incidental perimeter moisture and disperse it through the pad. Moderate amounts of moisture will eventually dissipate over time by perimeter or sub-floor evaporation.
                                    If installed upside down it is not going to perform as designed (plastic side up) if a 6 mil poly moisture barrier was put down over the slab first you still will be fine as the moisture cannot get to the padding.

                                  This is a follow up to my question posted a few minutes ago, asking if this product could be used on top of slate. After I sent that question, I asked my husband one more time, what type of subfloor we have in the kitchen. He informed me that it is "chip wood" or a particle board type of floor. So under all of our slate floors is a thin layer of cement to which the tiles are attached. Under the rest of the floors is padding, then carpeting on top of the chip wood subfloor. I apologize for misspeaking. But I guess the question is still the same. Can this product be used on top of the slate? Or would we have to remove the slate, cement, and/or thin set?
                                  Thank You,

                                    As long as the slate is flat to within specs and there are no moisture issues;
                                    Yes you can!

                                  We have a slate floor, applied on top of concrete in our kitchen. Can we install the Quiet Walk Underlayment on top of the slate floor? Then use a manufactured Bamboo?
