Comments about Schön Quick Clic Engineered 7/16" x 4-3/4" Red Oak:

I installed this floor in our kitchen and dining room over a grade-level slab. Haivng also installed solid hardwood in another room, I can say that this is much easier to install! I glued the joints for better resistance to spills, and for 450 sq ft, I used 64 oz. of glue. There is a lot of variation in color and grain, but that's just the way this floor appears. I can't speak to durability since I just finished the install. However, my wife dropped a Mason jar in the kitchen, and it did make a small dent in the floor (though it did not break). I think solid hardwood would be tougher, but then it doesn't resist water as well.

Comments about Schön Quick Clic Engineered 7/16" x 4-3/4" Red Oak:

I have done nail down and glue down floors and refinished floors
This gave a great looking durable floor for a low to moderate traffic area at a fraction of the work. I floated it and glued the joints. The click system works great and really locks the boards together, glue was really not necessary.

It looks like I expected it to look. The installers worked from several boxes at a time because of color variations, but the colors still vary a little more than I had expected, but I still like it a lot.

Comments about Schön Quick Clic Engineered 7/16" x 4-3/4" Red Oak:

Had this professionally installed 2 days ago in the entire downstairs of my townhome, approx 600 sq. ft. I can't speak to the ease of the installation, but I can say that the installation team had it all done, including removal of all the old flooring, and installtion of all the quarter round and T-molding in under 5 hours! There were 3 guys the first hour and then 2 more showed up to help. As far as the product goes...I'm still getting used to it. Everyone who has seen it so far says that it is so beautiful. Personally, I feel that it has a lot more grain than I thought it would for a "Natural" grade and I wish it were a little more shiny/glossy. We installed the eco sound underlayment and so far so good, as far as any sound issues. We were told to get 650 sq. ft. to cover any waste, which amounted to 31 boxes. All wood was used, except for about 6 planks from the last box. Overall, it's 1000 times nicer than the carpets and laminate tile that we replaced.

          Service and delivery comments:

Dealing with the store in Broussard was very easy. They were very helpful and we received the materail promptly. I would definitely recommend them.

We installed this floor in an office; installation was deceptively easy (did NOT need a pull bar) but the boards also did not stay snapped together. The mismatched colors (light blond to a medium brown) bothered us initially but the final look is alright, not great. Just installed it, so no comments on durability. We also just installed a Pergo laminate upstairs; we thought the hardwood would be markedly nicer looking but it wasn't, really.

Comments about Schön Quick Clic Engineered 7/16" x 4-3/4" Red Oak:

I can't find the 3" non-quick-lok Red Oak to post this review, so I'm posting here on the next nearest match.

We picked up 375sqft of engineered tounge and groove flooring to use in a 'forced' kitchen remodel. When you have to have a new slab put in, it's kinda of a forced remodel at that point :)

We used the 4-1 glue to glue it down to the new slab we had put in. This glue is really nice. Almost zero smell, and super adhesive, but still easy to clean with mineral spirits.
NOTE: I was *NOT* able to find a way to re-seal the glue once opened, that prevented it from flashing/skinning over. So I maybe wasted about 3lbs of glue because I had to cut the semi-dried skin off the top before I could reach the useable stuff. We tried resealing with the lid, wax paper, cling-wrap plastic wrap, but no use; it woudl re-skin. This gets expensive considering each can is $120. Plan accordingly.

The floor itself went down like magic. If you're careful and plan out at least a couple of rows in advance, you can reallllly move along with laying it down; only needing to stop to cut an end, or to tape the last 3 or 4 rows together to preent drift.

You can avoid the plastic-pergo sound when walking on it if you make sure to weight down the last 5-10 rows to make sure the glue is fully engaged underneath. If you do NOT have a relatively-to-very flat floor, this may not be helpful since you may create crests and valleys that you will feel when walking barefoot on the floor. Stay within a 3/8ths of an inch for level and you should be fine. We have a couple slight dips and valleys, but I consider that character :)

I would have liked to have had MORE of a color variation within the 12 boxes we bought, but there was a enough blondes and knotty peices throughout that we were able to randomzie enough and create what we think is a really nice looking floor.

We've posted pictures of the project below for you to see.

Quick notes for the newbie floor installer:
                  - Do NOT leave the glue to dry on your 3/8" trowel over night. It'll be henious to clean it before its next use.
                  - Wear clothes you don't intend to reuse for any other purpose but work clothes. The glue is like a magnet and will find your fingers, elbows, knees and knuckles every chance it gets.
                  - Keep towels handy to wipe your fingers of any glue.
                  - Buy a can of mineral spirits to lightly mop the floor when done and remove any glue fingerprints. If you use this method, use a drop mop afterward and "buff" the mineral spirits sheen off the finish.
                  - Work slowly and methodically and plan ahead to avoid re-dos. Pulling up peices that have made contact with the 4-1 glue will be like hugging an eel; undesierable, very slimy and sticky
                  - End peieces should be longer than 6" (unless there to be hidden under cabinets :))
                  - The reason you're supposed to start with the rooms longest run is to create the straighest run possible to build off of. We did not do this but we planned for it and at the end of our 25ft run, we were only 1/16th of an inch off when measuring our final rip-cut run.

Hope this helps and enjoy the pictures.
We still have yet to do our mudroom, bathroom and entryway hall, but we needed the kitchen done now so we can put the cabinets and appliances back in :)

Very easy product to work with. You can minimize waste by laying an entire box (or two) on the floor and juggling pieces around for best fit. When cuts are required at the end of a run, the remaining pieces can be used to start the next row and usually result in staggered joints.

                          A:

Engineered flooring is more suitable for damper areas because of their dimensional stability. However, climate control is still necessary. See page 2 asnd 9 www.lumberliquidators.com/assets/images/installation/schon_quickclic_engineered.pdf

                          A:

You may use a standard Red Oak T - Molding. That type of T-molding does not come with a track like laminate flooring does. You can use a urethane adhesive in a caulking tube and apply a thick bead of adhesive directly to the subfloor and sit the molding in place allowing the bottom of the T-molding to sit into the adhesive. Apply weights on top of the molding until the adhesive cures. If the bottom of the molding does not reach the subfloor, cut a shim and glue it to the bottom of the t-molding and once cured glue the whole piece to the subfloor. The T-molding has a total thickness of 1/2" the vertical part of the T-molding is about 1/4" thick.

Unfortunately not, any carpet will have to be removed because it offers no moisture protection or proper support to the locking system..
