Lisbon Cork- 13/32" x 11-5/8" x 35-5/8" Rossio Cork Flooring

Quick Highlights:

DURABILITY - 25 year warranty same as traditional hardwood.
DESIGN - Architects, Designers and Home Owners love the color pallet and fashion patterns of cork.
COMFORT -  Cork is resilient which relives stress in the back and legs when standing on our floors.
WARMTH - Cork takes on the temperature of the room. Great for warm or cold climates.
QUIET - Cork is great for sound deadening due to the honeycomb cell structure of the bark. This reduces sound within the room as well as between floors in multi-level structures.
EASY MAINTENANCE -  Just sweep and spot clean for many years of use.

Lisbon Cork Co. Ltd. Fine Cork Flooring combines the beauty of a natural material with the comfort of a cushioned surface. It is durable, acoustical, and a great insulator.  The bark of the cork tree is peeled without destroying the tree and it grows back within nine years, ready to be harvested again. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a joy to live with. Cork is considered a green product because the same tree can be harvested numerous times.

Looks Great - We Just Hope It Holds Up!

This cork flooring looks great when complete but it can be quite the task to install. We found that if you use like a wood block (we used a small piece of the cork flooring itself) held up against the edge then hit it with the hammer it helps to lock it in. You have to be sure to get it completely locked so the seams are tight. It becomes easier the more you get installed. It looks great now but we worry about hitting the seams with our shoes and chipping a piece of the cork. We are also worried about it denting from furniture being on it so we have bought an area rug for the room. I am hoping that we are worrying for nothing and it holds up forever. We questioned using polyurethane on it but we heard this will void the warranty if you do so therefore we chose not to. You won't be dissapointed in the look and feel of it when walking on it.

We searched and searched for almost a year to find the perfect floors to fit our life style, and the Rossio Cork was the way to go, we have a large dog (105 lbs) and with every other floor, the dogs nails would scratch and gouge the surface, and from the dog weight of the dog and the size of the nails, all other floors (including stranded bamboo) would get these little dents in the floor, and in high traffic areas this meant that the coating on the floor would crack and flake and peel off the floor. We heard about cork and everything we had read said that it was naturally water resistant, (pet stains are a thing of the past), it added insulation value (noticeable right away), it added sound proofing, (I would not say proofing as much as extreme sound muffling from out side noises), and we also read that it gives cushion to the floor (which I have to admit, I was very skapticale as we had carpet prior, and I like having soft floors to walk on.) but I was very surprised at the fact that I do not feel like I am walking of a wood floor, it has some give (not much but enough to make a noticeable difference). this was the best purchase we made for our renovation. the guys at the Slidell store were a big help, they even loaded the 22 boxes into the Prius, (surprised them big time, lol. thanks guys.

So far so good with this floor. It provides a nice, cushioned surface for working out, and doesn't get damaged if we accidentally drop a weight.

Had never done business with Lumber Liquidators before and was concerned both with service and product, but both went far beyond our expectations. The Oklahoma City store was so helpful in all aspects. Everything from ordering to delivery went exactly as planned, with good communication all along the way. Bought several boxes over what we needed expecting some to have damage but not one single plank arrived damaged. Will definitely recommend and buy from them again.

Did find the flooring to be a little harder than we expected to install. But then again, we did do five rooms and before this had no flooring experience of any kind, so there was a lot of learning along the way. Also took longer than expected but we did put 4 coats of polyurethane on. It looks really nice and seems to be durable. Hoping with the extra coatings of polyurethane that any water mishaps won't be a problem. Loving everything about it so far!

The edges where it is pounded together are very fragile. This is not a click and lock product, but a pound this way and that way product. Much harder to install than we were lead to believe.

Used in a kitchen remodel which is still incomplete. Love the sound muffling capability, the warmth and cushioning for long standing & dropped glass. Don't necessarily like the "cork board" look but like the look of the pattern I chose. I thought it was too dark at first but with white cabinetry, it will be great. Very frustrated with trying to lay it. We used the installation kit and ended up damaging the "tongue" on some pieces. After 3 lines, we gave up and a contractor son did the rest--he had to figure it out but then it went pretty quickly by hand-fitting each piece without the use of the installation kit. There are a few minor digs and scrapes but my son says it is easily covered with a magic marker in the right color. I plan to put a few coats of polyurethane on it when the construction process is finished. I think I will be very happy with this floor.

                  Service and delivery comments:

Lumber Liquidators tracking program is terrible. First it showed the product received, what it should have shown was the order was received at the warehouse. It took a week for the order to hit the website. One good point, the people at the local store were courteous and helpful.

We love the looks of the flooring. We have it in the family room, kitchen, living room, and den. We like that it is cushioned to walk on, and warm. We found the edges to be easily damaged when installing, but once you get use to it you get better at getting it installed with out damage. Over all we are very pleased and would use this product again.

It was fairly easy to install along the long edges, but the ends were a challenge, especially in tight spaces even when using the recommended tools. I have installed oak hardwood and several laminate floors, but joining the ends on this flooring was a new experience. The finished kitchen floor looks and feels great. We are strongly considering this flooring in our adjoining family room.

Once I see how well it holds up I may add the 5th star.

                      Service and delivery comments:

Make sure you check for color continuity before beginning. One box was much, much darker than the rest, despite assurances that there was uniformity in the dye process and any differences would be minor. The installation was put on hold until a matching box could be found and happily the manager took the one box back and began working with other stores to find us a match. He was not having much success, but as we live in an area where there were two other stores within a reasonable distance, my wife went to another store that had the product in stock, found a match and the 2 stores worked out the exchange. Very happy with the customer service!

What is the best way to remediate a surface scratch on the Rossio cork floor? Also, is it possible to replace a damaged floor panel as you would in a nailed hardwood floor scenario?

                          A:

Wood floors like furniture will scratch and dent if not properly protected. It is recommended to use furniture pads (included in our cleaning kit) under the furniture legs. Pet nails should be kept trimmed and sharp objects (including high heels) kept away from the floor. Often scratches can be adequately repaired using liquid scratch covers. Dents and nicks can be filled using wood floor repair kits available at your local home store. If your floor is severely damaged please consult a professional about refinishing, an individual board replacement may be all that’s needed. Thank you for your inquiry

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.
Our Bellawood floor cleaner does not contain any polishes ,wax or anything that will build on the surface and is recommended to be used on all our flooring products. I do hear of this scenario often enough and it always prooves out that there was another cleaning product used previously on the floor that is reacting to the Bellawood cleaner. Most likely once the residue is removed from the original factory finish the floor can be maintained easily. Thank you for your inquiry.

This cork flooring has a Delta IIC of 16db, the cork underlayment and the structure itself (floor ceiling assembly) should reach 52.

Yes, Cork is acceptable for installation in a kitchen. It is recommend to put a throw rug by the sink because any excess water can damage wood. You will need to wipe up any water that sits on the floor as soon as possible.

Flooding will destroy this or any natural material flooring. If flooding is common a ceramic tile would be a better option.
