About Bamboo:
Bamboo floors' popularity has increased over the past few years as people have become more aware of the fragile state of the environment.
Because it is a grass rather than a wood, it grows far more quickly than a tree. The plant's extensive root system continually grows underground and it replenishes itself naturally, as grass does.
New growth, which springs out of the ground and can mature up to 24" in  24 hours and unlike trees, bamboo will regenerate quickly, making it a renewable resource.

  • Q:

I purchased the SP HS Horiz Ruo Bamboo 3/8" X 3-15/16". I am going to install in the front entry and the dining room. I am installing it on a plywood sub-floor with the "Quiet Walk" underlayment. Is it OK to install this flooring "Free Floating" or should it be nailed. The salesman said not to nail it.

Why is the bull nose trim piece 1/2" and the actual flooring is only 3/8". How would I proceed with the 1/8" difference in thickness?

The ⅛" addition to the measurement counts for the overlap design. SKU: 10035953 stair nose will work for Horizontal Ruo bamboo.

  • Q:

I was considering installing this flooring floating on concrete, but the recommended underlayment is Elastilon per the manufacturer.

On a nail down installation the Dream Home Insulayment is acceptable per the manufacturer, and is actually the underlayment I prefer.

Would I be wrong to float this material on concrete using the Insulayment rather than Elastilon? Does anyone have any experience with this flooring on concrete and is it acceptable to use the Insulayment?
Asked on 12/21/2015 by Roger from California

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Unfortunately this solid bamboo product cannot be "edge-glued" in a floating application as it is not a click together/floating floor, however solid products can be floated using the Elastilon" system.

  • Q:

I am looking to install this product in my dinning room, living room and hallway. These are major traffic areas in my home. Is the finish on this product easily scratched? Meaning, will a chair being pushed back or someone walking in high heels be enough to gouge the floor or scratch it?
Asked on 7/5/2015 by Darla from United States

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

This particular flooring, because of its dark color (which reveals scratches easier) and its average finish in comparison to Morning Star or Bellawood bamboo finish, is more appropriate for low traffic rooms.

  • Q:

How would this flooring hold up with pets? I have some senior dogs that tend to pee in the floor. Is the floor slick when walking on it?
Asked on 6/18/2015 by Angie from Borden, IN

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
It is not "slick" unless it gets wet.
      Thank you for your inquiry.
