Handcrafted plank by plank, the French bleed is done the traditional way by rubbing the stain on the plank edge. Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Mill Works handscraped floors. About Engineered: Don't forget the molding and stair treads! Lumber Liquidators... The floor looks great, but almost every box contained warped boards, which made installation challenging. The birch does scratch relatively easily, however, the layer wood layer on this floor is relatively thick, which helps mitigate the appearance. VERY LIMITED TRIM options available - be sure they will work for your application before you buy!!!
The floor is beautiful. The contractor put in about 1200 sq. feet in less than 2 days. It went in very easily. Nice variation in color, so it goes with all our wood furniture and cabinets.

We had these installed almost over a year ago and still looks beautiful. We have dogs that run around and the hand-scrape finish hides whatever scratches really well.

Just had this floor put in 2 days ago in our bedroom..The colors in the floor are Gorgeous! I have Mahogany dressers and Lighter Woodwork...floor brings it ALL TOGETHER! The Person that says not to buy the floor does not appreciate or see the high quality that has been put into the manufacturing of this product..I wish I had the time and the funds to put it throughout my home. Cannot beat the PRICE! Do not hesitate to purchase this flooring..My dresser is Very Heavy and does not even affect the surface or damage the beautiful finsh..GO FOR IT AND LOVE IT! It does not sound like Laminate at all..Sounds just like my Solid Oak Floor in my Kitchen.. :)

We installed this engineered hardwood in our master bedroom. I wanted solid hardwood, but we were convinced to go with engineered hardwood...I wish I would have stuck to my original plan. While this floor looks great, it sounds hollow when you walk on it...too much like the laminate sound...we even installed it over Bellawood padding and it still sounds hollow....GO FOR THE SOLID HARDWOOD!!

Love, love, love my new floors!! My husband and I installed the Santa Cruz Handscraped Planks in my home office about 6 weeks ago. We've installed floors before, but it's been a while, so once we got past the initial "getting started" hurdles and had the first 4 or 5 rows down, the floor went down pretty easily. We've got 2 big dogs, so I was really worried about scratches...especially after reading other comments on other floors. So far, so good!!

This handsraped flooring is beautiful. The finish on the boards is great.
It is easy to install and completely changes the look of any room.
I would be careful with dogs, I believe their toenails would scratch the finish.

Q:
Is Santa Cruz plank a 3mm veneer or 2 mm veneer. When answering a question you stated it was 2 and the specifications say it is 3mm. I would like to know before I make a purchase.0 answers
Q:
We installed this floor and love the look of the floor, but it squeaks horribly. The squeaking is not coming from the sub flooring. Has anyone else had this problem?1 answer
A:
Squeaking is usually caused by movement of the boards (deflection) and rubbing together, if you can stop the movement the squeaking should stop.Q:
why is the waste so high for this product?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
After you establish your square footage in the rooms to be installed, add for waste and order that much. Enter in the "Your Square Feet:" box on the product webpage and try to round off to the nearest box.Q:
Does this floor use a plywood base? If so, how many layers and what type of wood?1 answer
A:
Virginia Mill Works Co.- 1/2" x 5" Santa Cruz Plank Prefinished Handscraped Engineered Flooring has a 5 layer birch ply backing.Q:
Is this a floor that can be installed up a wall in a bathroom. It would not be exposed directly to water, but would be in a room that obviously gets moisture. Thanks!1 answer
A:
I apologies we do not retail flooring that should be applied to walls, while we do have customer's that do that frequently it will void any warranty that comes with the flooring. If you are looking to install wood on your walls in the bathroom (high moisture and humidity) I would take a look at something that has the highest stability rating which is our strand bambooQ:
what is used to clean this product1 answer
A:
We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. Thank you for your inquiryQ:
I just ordered the Santa Cruz hand scraped flooring. It is back ordered and I will have to pick it up. What are the dimensions of each box of flooring so I know how much I can fit in my SUV?1 answer
A:
These boxes will be about 8" wide, 6" high and no more than 50" longQ:
Can this flooring be refinished? (ref # 10015264)1 answer
A:
Full refinishing will take slightly under a 1/32” off the veneer of the wood flooring. The thickness of the veneer and how much wear and dents a floor has will determine how many times it can be refinished. Solid hardwood that is ¾” thick may be refinished 4 to 7 or more times depending on how much wood was taken off on each refinishing. Low profile solid wood flooring like 5/16” thick flooring may be able to be refinished twice if the flooring is in good shape. Engineered flooring with a 1/8” wear layer or more will be able to be refinished at least once. If the engineered product has a 1/16” wear layer a professional sander may be able to refinish it, but many won’t take the chance in case they make a mistake and take too much off the wear layer. We recommend that hardwood floor refinishing be done by a professional and if your not sure if you can refinish your flooring have professional sand and finish expert come to your home and evaluate your flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
We purchased and had this floor installed last year. We love it! What can we do for scratches? They show up white, and was wondering if Virginia Mills has some product to help with this? Thank you1 answer
A:
Wax filler sticks or stain markers are available at your local paint store or home center used for minor hardwood repairs. This process is used to repair scratches or nicks. Select the appropriate stick color to match the damaged area. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
Will this product be suitable for a radiant heat floor?1 answer
A:
