That's why we only buy from suppliers who practice responsible harvesting and carefully manage their cutting with replanting strategies in place. For us, it's not just about being responsible citizens. It's about being a responsible business too. Santos Mahogany offers a lavish reddish brown with lighter orange-browns spread across its fine grain. And it's known the world over for its exceptional strength, making it a great choice for high-traffic businesses and busy homes as well. Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Santos Mahogany:
I found some degree of width inconsistancy. At times this made it difficult to maintain tight seams.

We had another santos mahogonay and the finish was defective so we needed replacement flooring that day. We found a comparable match and the client loved it as it was not as shiny (must have been the defective clear coat). I really like the beauty and character of this product.

I did my home in three stages as I could not afford to buy all I needed at once so Family room first then living and dinning room second, finaly bed rooms. The finish is diffierent shades on the three orders. Not so bad that I did not install but my advice order total amount needed at the same time.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Santos Mahogany:
My contractor suggested that I use Lumber Liq. Bellawood, and I was reluctant. That was 7 years ago, and I could not be happier. We chose this mahogany floor for our vacation home INCLUDING the kitchen (of all places for hardwood)! I receive constant raves on the beauty of the floor, but most of all I am so pleased with the durability. A small child slid a metal chair across the wood, and I simply buffed out the scratches - looks brand new!
I'm so pleased with Santos Mahogany that I'm putting it in our new home in NYC - this time, the entire home!

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Santos Mahogany:
After one year, floor still looks amazing. We installed last Labor Day weekend, which was very humid. This probably made fitting boards more of a problem, even though we "aged them" in the room for two weeks. But it was well worth the effort. Transition pieces in two doorways were easy to install and gave a most professional appearance.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Santos Mahogany:
This is a very nice looking hardwood floor. I bought the cabin grade and had a lot more waste than normal (over 20% waste).
The guys at the WinsorMills LL-store were very helpful. All Wood Flooring installed the floor and they did an exceptional job considering that it is Cabin Grade wood.
I typically would only be inspired to write review comments to vent some unsatisfactory service or product....but this time I am very pleased with the service and product.

Q:
Can this product be cut and satisfactorly installed in a chevron pattern?1 answer

A:
Please contact Technical and Installation; TechandInstallation@lumberliquidators.com or call 1-800-366-4204Q:
can I use cork or bamboo floring in my main bathroom?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Cork, no, bamboo is very "stable" sometimes if it is a half bath or cautions are taken as with wood flooring. Wood flooring can be installed through out the home, but there are concerns about installation in bathrooms. Bathrooms are areas of high moisture. With full baths there are concerns with water spills, high humidity due to steamy showers, and toilet over flows. Elevated moisture in a full bath can create finish issues, board warping, and buckling. When installing in these areas extreme caution is advised and it is recommended to choose wood flooring with high "stability". Make sure you have good air flow and use mats to absorb moisture when coming out of the tube or shower. Many wood floors will not be warranted in a bathroom application. An alternative would be our Tranquility vinyl Click flooring. The Tranquility vinyl click flooring looks like real wood, but will not be affected by moisture like wood floors.Q:
How can you address scratches on prefinished wood? Can the floor be sanded and refinished at any point. Do you have a repair kit for minor scratches.1 answer
A:
Regrettably, scratches can happen in all wood flooring. Fortunately good looking repairs can be made to most wood flooring products. First determine the nature of the repair, is it a surface scratch, a deep scratch or a gouge? Repairs should be made soon after discovery to protect against possible water damage. Ensure the repair products you select are compatible with clear waterbase urethane finishes. Follow these common steps for repairing hardwood or bamboo flooring.Q:
Can you use radiant floor heating with solid Santos Mahogany wood?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, Santos Mahogany may be used over radiant heat installations. Narrow strip will perform better than 5" but with a stability rating of about 26% greater than red oak, the species does work well. For details type "radiant" here - www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101Q:
Is this suitable for exterior uses like front porch flooring? THanks!1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Prefinished flooring is suitable for interior, climate controlled areas only. Urethane finish can't handle the dimensional changes that take place with extreme environmental shifts, so you can use an unfinished hardwood finished with tung or other natural oils as with covered porch flooring. These site finished sealers expand and contract with the flooring without cracking.Q:
Installing over concrete subfloor in humid, rainy, hot, muggy, etc. Florida. Everyone tells me DO NOT INSTALL SOLID WOOD! Would appreciate any comments of experience from those who have installed solid wood over concrete in Florida.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It's true that engineered may perform better in high humidity areas. However both can work very well if humidity is controlled as it should be with all wood floors. Proper moisture barrier and adhesive is crucial. for details see - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/custserv/aboutus.jsp?pageName=Flooring101Q:
What is the best way to clean this type of floor.1 answer
A:
Our Bellawood floor cleaner works very well. This can be purchased directly from our stores or on line at www.lumberliquidators.com.Q:
application over exsiting wood, how would you install? nails or staples1 answer
A:
Its probably a personal choice..for nailing use a 16 gauge cleatnailer with nails that are 1 1/2" to 2' and for stapler a 15 gauge with 1/2' wide staples and 1 1/2-2' long staples. Also depends on which type gun you have or can rent.
