Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- 30 Year Warranty

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

Even though its easy to put together. i question the quality of it. It's easy to scratch the surface of it. And its not colored enough through the bamboo.

After lots of prep work the floor itself went down quite easy. Using the recommended saw blade for bamboo, cutting the boards was easy and clean. The click joints are coated with wax which made for a nice tight fit with a good seal. The color is deep and rich but be warned if you have pets, it shows every spec of fur and paw prints. A nice large area rug will hopefully make a big difference.

The floor is dark and rich and just the color to match my living room decor. The premium underlay works well with eliminating/dampening sound. Overall, it looks fantastic and much better than the carpet that was previously on my living room floor.

                Service and delivery comments:

The staff at my local store were helpful with flooring samples and answered any questions I had. The private contractor that installed the floor was very punctual, polite, friendly, and very helpful through the entire installation process. He made valuable suggestions and insight and was very attentive to my questions and concerns. My local store had the flooring and underlay materials in stock, but not the accessories (not a problem). I ordered those in-store and they were shipped quickly to my residence in just 3 business days. I am overly satisfied with Lumber Liquidators level of customer service on my flooring project.

We purchased: Morning Star Click 1/2" x 5" Dao Click Strand Bamboo flooring for our entryway, stairs, living and dining room. We couldnt be happier. I read reviews and saw some negative comments but after discussing with the store manager came to the conclusion that this floor was just as satisfactory than other products out there that I researched. Most importantly, you must prepare your surface and read the installation instructions and follow them. My installer was fabulous and experienced. I will upload pics to show how beautiful the flooring is. My only issues is that it shows the dust and fibers from my wool area rug but any dark flooring will. I dont regret it at all and love the dark color so it is well worth me running the vaccume or using my floor cleaner. If by chance you get a scratch because all floors will scratch...a quick rub of Old English dark stain polish fixes it immediately. This floor is simply beautiful. I also ordered the floor registers to match which again were worth every penny!
I dont want to forget our East Peoria Illinois staff, they were so kind, helful and always there for us.

                High Maintenance, Sharpies For Scratches

As others have said, every bit of dust shows on these floors. I have these floors installed throughout my entire house. Literally everywhere except closets and bathrooms. I have 2 robot sweepers roaming around the house most days, I also try to swiffer and mop with the bellawood floor cleaner once a week. This keeps things pretty tidy. I'm a single male and I travel a lot for work, so my floors don't get very much traffic, so the weekly cleaning regimen is plenty for my floors to stay looking like something out of a magazine.

Also, this may sound a little weird, but I have found that if you have any deep or light scratches that shows the lighter "bamboo color" under the dark stain take a regular black sharpie and color in the scratch then IMMEDIATELY wipe in the direction of the wood grain with a regular paper towel. For large scratches do small sections at a time to make sure the sharpie doesn't dry on the surface. You'll be surprised at the results!

                      • LOW TRAFFIC AREA

I'll reiterate what others have said before. "Every dust shows...", "Looks great until you walk on it...". That pretty much sums up my issue with these floors. The problem in my living room is that there is direct sunlight. It shows all the dirt, streak, sweat, oil that's on the surface. Within 1 week, there are scratches everywhere, I'm hoping those scratches can be fixed. It does look great right after you clean it but it doesn't last long. High maintenance.

This is a great product so far, but we have only had it for a week. I will probably give it 5 out of 5 in the future, but only gave it 4 because we have not had much traffic on it yet. People love the color and the feel, so I think it will be a great investment.

No doubt this floor is beautiful. But with beauty comes a huge price. Super high maintenance. The problem with the floor is in the construction. It is a dark stain layer on top of a blond colored bamboo wood. Once the surface is scratched, it shows the light wood color underneath. Traditional oak floors are solid wood throughout. So if oak is scratched, oak shows through. Can't really see the scratch. Plus LL does not have available a stain to touch-up any damages. Not good. Also, this flooring looks satin in finish but the satin finish polyurethane available in the hardware stores looks semi-gloss compared to the floor finish. I called LL to get help but they could not assist me in getting what I need to repair scratches. My advise, buy a solid wood flooring. Same color from top to bottom.

                        • Q:

I installed this floor in my house, and I love it. I used 6mil poly sheeting, then the underlayment from LL along with the planks on top.

However, in some spots, the floor is a bit squishy. you can't really feel it, but you can clearly see it when people walk across it. No noise, just a slight bounce in a few spots. would this mean my floor is bad, or would it be ok since it's bamboo and can't break that easy?

                            A:

Usually when a floor "is a bit squishy" just in spots it is due to the subfloor not being flat to within tolerances.

I just picked up the first batch of Dao Bam strand woven click bamboo from Morning Star. I noticed when opening up some of the boxes that the surface is not always smooth, but sometimes contains grooves and areas that were fixed, i.e. an insert was visible. With the risk that I set myself up to get the obvious answer: Is this normal, or is this supposed to be a A-quality product with a completely smooth surface?

Without being able to see the product you received, My suggestion would be to contact your local store and bring some of the planks that are in question to compare to the store sample.
Of course with any "natural product" there is an acceptable waste factor (10%) for this product.

                            A:

Yes. Bamboo flooring can be fully re-sanded and finished as any other species. You should be able to refinish your floor at least 4 to 5 times if not more. But that would be a jobsite decision made by a certified professional sand and finisher.

I'm interested in this flooring but I am hesitant to use a floating floor application. A lot of flooring I've used in the floating have had a hollow sound regardless of underlayment used. Can this flooring be nailed with a flooring nailer?

We do not recommend nailing this flooring because of the locking joints, however it may be glued to the subfloor. See - www.lumberliquidators.com/assets/images/installation/morning_star_clic.pdf

                            A:

Bamboo is not recommended for bathrooms.

MORNING STAR bamboo flooring should not be used over in-floor heating and no warranties are expressed. If you choose to do so note these five tips.

                            1. Follow the instructions from the supplier of the floor heating system.
                            2. Concrete subfloors must be installed and cured a minimum of 60 days.
                            3. The heating system must be in operation for at least two weeks before installation to dissipate any residual moisture. During installation, the system may be turned off or set to a suitable installation temperature 60 -80°F, humidity 35 -55%.
                            4. Adjust the heating system gradually, the heating surface temperature must not exceed 85°F. Add humidification as needed. 5. Over dry conditions and excessive surface heat can create problems with the finish, board gapping and splits
