BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Bolivian Rosewood Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

Bellawood - An Industry Leader in Durability and Design. Everything we do is about making a better floor. This means a Bellawood floor is 2X more scratch resistant and 4X more abrasion resistant than other brands. Plus, it is backed by a transferable 100 year warranty. When you choose Bellawood, you choose a lifetime of exceptional beauty and quality for your home.

Bolivian Rosewood is a great flooring choice if you are looking for uniqueness and elegance. It ranges from light to medium brown with pink and reddish tones and some occasional black striping. It is an extremely hard wood that performs very well in both, homes and high-traffic business areas..
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

It Taber Tested "the Best." When subjected to the industry sandpaper abrasion test, known as Taber Testing, Bellawood's durability results were more than double most comparably priced floors. There's good, there's better?and then there's Bellawood.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Bolivian Rosewood:

Used and would recommend to use a professional to install. Installation was about a year ago in my daughter's bedroom 15' x 25' room. The wood is beautiful and it is a more durable than Brazilian Cherry or the best grade oak. I would recommend the larger planks for a room of similar size. The product still looks as new as the day it was installed.

The only problem with the product was the instalation. Having the proper blade for cutting is essential. The Bolivian Rosewood is a extremely durable product. We installed it initially in the Kitchen and were so impressed with the durability and ease of maintenance. The color is beautiful and complements any room. We were so impressed with the floor that the dining room and adjoining bedroom were soon to follow. We get compliments on the floor by everyone..
Great product overall and very satisfied...

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Bolivian Rosewood:

We fell in love with the sample provided at the Lumber Liquidator showroom (more a warehouse). It has a nice pink color, which apparently fades with exposure to sun for a light to dark brown. We got some professional installer to get the job done. It is a real hardwood; installer had to run to the [...] to get a good quality saw to cut this hardwood (more than 150% harder than Oak wood). It looks awesome after the finish; even the installer fell in love with it and he asked why more people are installing Brazilian cherry instead of this wood.

Asked on 6/8/2013 by Letti from Reno, NV

                    • Staff Reviewer

                      A:

                      Acclimation Steps:
                      1. Home climate must be kept consistent at least two weeks before bringing the flooring in the home.
                      2. During Acclimation and after installation the home climate must be kept consistent. For example if home climate is 70F and humidity is 31% maintain these conditions during and after installation. Wood is hydroscopic and it can change dimensions when humidity levels change inside the home. A digital hygrometer can be purchased for $10 dollars to monitor these conditions.
                      3. Bring wood flooring inside the home, in the middle of the room to begin acclimation to home climate (all painting, or wet work should be done well in advance before acclimation of wood)
                      4. It is best to place sticks between each row of boxes to allow good air flow around each box.
                      5. Open up the last box stacked pull out the boards and test the Moisture Content of boards in the box. Also check to finish and milling for any issues. An initial moisture test the first day of acclimation can help give you an idea of how long it may take the floor to acclimate.
                      6. If the flooring is already at a Equilibrium moisture content to the conditions of the home the installation can begin in a few days as long as the humidity inside the home is kept consistent.
                      7. If the flooring is not within 2 percent of the moisture content of the subfloor acclimation time is extended until the wood flooring reaches proper balance with the subflooring.
                      8. If you receive the flooring and the moisture is high over 12% moisture on average then the flooring should not be installed. Return the flooring for new material.
                      9. Moisture testing should only be done with a species specific moisture meter. That can be set to calculate the species of wood being tested. Do not use a meter that cannot accomplish this task. I suggest talking to Lignomat for a good meter. One example is the Ligno DXC meter. Also be sure the read the meters instructions and know there limitations. Moisture testing should be documented with name of meter, model, and pictures that show date and time.
                      10. Again do not install flooring until a moisture balance is created between the wood flooring and subfloor. Extended acclimation time may be needed for exotic wood flooring.
                      11. NWFA states (acclimation can be facilitated by breaking the floor into small lots/ or opening the packaging and to cross stack the material with spacers (3/4” to 1” sticks) between each layer of flooring to allow air circulation around all sides.) Following this NWFA suggestion by opening up all the boxes and removing any plastic in the boxes can quicken the acclimation time, but if this method is done be sure to check for milling or finish issues prior to opening up all the boxes.
                      12. Once a moisture balance between the flooring and subfloor is achieved the wood flooring can be installed.

You can find complete installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the installation tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.
                      Thank you for writing in.

Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 50-year warranty!

The fastener to install this species of wood (depending on subfloor) most likely was an 18 or 16 gauge cleat 1 1/2" to 2".

How much darker does the color get with time, the sample I have is very new and I would like to understand how many shades darker it would get.

                      A:

I would recommend going to your nearest Lumber Liquidators showroom to see a sample that has some age on it.
All wood species can change color over time due to oxidation or when exposed to light. In some species, the change can be more dramatic and may darken in color over time, while others tend to lighten. Currently there is no known value set for Patina or color change of a species so contractors and or customers should be aware of this normal condition. The patina process is unrelated to the urethane finishes.

How long does it take for the true color of the floor to come through once the floor is exposed to light?

                      A:

Yes, all of our prefinished flooring has a microbevel, this is to compensate for slight thickness differences from expansion of wood that can happen between the mill and finish shops.

Give me some idea of the number of pieces and break them into lengths (i.e. how many under 12"; 12" - 24:, 24 - 36"' >36")? I am considering purchasing but don't want an excessive number of "shorts".
