Boards were not same size measured from 4 7/8" to 5 1/8", had to measure each board and put in piles of 1/16" and then make sure I used the same pile for a row. This add many hours to the job.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Golden Teak:

The manager of the shop that I dealt with was very helpful, and knowledgeable; especially when I got a couple of bad mill cut boxes that had to be changed out. He took care of it no problem.

Service and delivery comments:

2 things:
1. I would order a couple of extra boxes next time incase you get some bad mill cuts; so you do not have to stop the job to order more.
2. I did not know I needed a stair to floor nose piece. That piece had to be ordered separately. It would have been nice if they suggested that in the beginning

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Golden Teak:

the wood is beautiful. We bought it on a "close out".I asked if this had been returned and was told the reason it was on sale is Bellawood changed the type of box they were using. When we started installing we noticed some of the wood had nails in it or had been cut,but that was not the problem. The wood was not 5 inches wide. Some boards were 4 7/8 some 5" and some 5 1/8". Once we figured this out worked well and looks beautiful. The guys at the store were great, they helped a lot.

Installation was slow. Missized boards in five or six widths. Had to measure every board, and still other problems with the product added 40% install time. I had professional installers who battled the issues. Looks very good. Don't understand why the milling was so poor. Boards are also, very easy to dent.

The contractor I hired to install the floor who was impressed with the quality of the product. Be aware though, that the boards are not consistently 5". He had to measure each piece, and set aside those that were 4.75, 4.625, etc. He was able to use those in a closet where a little gap wasn't a big deal. I called LL and explained the situation, and they provided me with the extra material I needed for the contractor to complete the job. One phone call, and the matter was resolved.

This 5" teak prefinished flooring turned out great! Installation went faster with the 5" boards. The lengths and widths were consistent
box to box. I would definitely recommend this particular floor to others. Nothing special was required even though the wood was much harder than oak.

I ordered 2 boxes of new flooring after I found 4 boxes of "seconds" at my local store. In the boxes of new boards, many of them were warped, and differed in width. If you love this flooring, call your local store and see if they have any seconds. Buy more than needed, and you'll still save a bunch.

It is in between a Satin & semi gloss.
I would recommend visiting your local Lumber Liquidators to look at the actual sample (take home samples are free) or order a sample to make sure this is the right product for you.
I recommend calling first to make sure they have this to view.

Yes, hardwood is acceptable for installation in a powder room. It is recommend to put a throw rug by the sink because an excess water can damage wood. You will need to wipe up any water that sit on the floor as soon as possible. However a full bathroom that is showered in everyday may not be the best location for hardwood. Often there is too much water on the floor or humidity that can be absorbed into the flooring resulting in board edge cupping. Resilient and Tile floors are a better choice for these areas. This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.
But can be installed over concrete using our Elastilon underlayment.
What you should know about Elastilon Strong
An Elastilon-backed wood floor is much faster to install than traditional nail or glue-down methods.
Elastilon Strong can be installed on new concrete floors, handling up to 3.9% moisture content. A vapour barrier of at least 6 mil PE should be used below grade and on newly poured concrete above grade where the moisture content is above 3.9%.
Laid down with a 5/8” (15 mm) expansion gap, Elastilon Strong creates a dynamic, floating floor that expands or contracts naturally with the hardwood.
Elastilon Strong has no odor and is free of volatile materials.
                Elastilon Strong gives cushioned comfort.
1/8” (3 mm) thick Elastilon Strong has ratings of IIC 62 and STC 54.
                Thermal resistance: R _ 0,15 (m K) / W
Elastilon Strong carries a 70-year limited warranty. Thank you for your inquiry.

                A:

All wood products are affected by environmental conditions especially prefinished materials. Acclimate the new flooring in the areas to be installed to normal lived-in conditions while in the boxes. If products are protected in plastic, only open the ends of the boxes. To prevent board warping, twisting or bowing, only cut the outside plastic support packaged bindings when ready to install. Length of acclimation time is not the determining factor. The goal is to reach an indoor equilibrium or environmental balance between the “core” of the new flooring with its surroundings before installation. This balance could be achieved in as little as 1 to 5 days, or longer for some exotic species (Golden Teak about 5-10 days). For best performance, condition the flooring to consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%. Very dry or humid regions of the country usually require extended conditioning. Recommended acclimation levels maintained even after the installation will help to minimize board movement, excessive squeaks and gaps. Proper jobsite conditions, acclimation and moisture testing the subfloor and new flooring and all work together for the success of the installation.

Lumber Liquidators offers flooring brands that practice responsible harvesting. People that make their living in timber know the importance of sustaining healthy forests. Without a well-planned growth cycle, they simply are out of business. Tree cutting is monitored very carefully within a selective cutting and replanting strategy. At Lumber Liquidators, we believe hardwood flooring is a natural, healthy choice—for both you and the environment.
We get HUSGT5SV from multiple mills but the majority of our purchases are harvested from Moto Groso and the Rondonia region.
