  • Q:

I bought 700 square feet of BELLAWOOD Engineered 1/2" x 5" Select Maple Engineered for a floating installation.

I have done click floating floors with no edge glue. The installer says this floor has to be edge glued for a floating application. Is this true and if so do all pieces have to be edge glued?

      A:

Our Bellawood products have a small beveled edge.
I would recommend visiting your local Lumber Liquidators to look at the actual sample (take home samples are free) or order a sample to make sure this is the right product for you.
Order samples and get a full credit on your future flooring order.
Purchasing samples is a great way to compare the many fantastic flooring choices available at Lumber Liquidators—and it's so easy!
      1. Find the flooring you're interested in by clicking on a category or using our Floor Finder on the home page.
      2. When you find a particular floor, just click on the "Add Sample"(if available) text. On the right of your screen, you'll see a swatch of that flooring. That means it's in your shopping cart.
      3. You can get up to three samples for $10, with every additional sample costing just $1—and shipping is FREE.

  • Q:

I'm looking at the 1/2 x 5" Bellawood Engineered Select Maple Floors (blonde finish). The sample I saw in the store has a "Knot" in the plank which offsets the lightness of the floors. Is there a way to obtain "unknotted" select engineered option? Or do I have to order plenty and only use the "knot-free" floor boards?
Asked on 3/3/2015 by Nick from Chicago, IL

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Usually a 5% waste factor is recommended, if you want a "knot free" floor I would bump it up to 10% to select the planks you like.
Thank you for your interest in our flooring products.

  • Q:

How many coats of finish? What type of finish? How many ply thickness?
Asked on 10/20/2014 by maureen from United States

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty! (The exact formula is propietary information) The formula for the Bellawood finish is a custom mix that has a 50/50 gloss. The sheen you get is shinier than satin, but not as shiny as semi -gloss.
The average dry film thickness for Bellawood is about 3.65 mils – one of the highest in the industry.
Maintaining the appearance of any wood floor requires close attention to in-door climate controls during seasonal changes.
The wear layer (maple veneer) is 3mm thick.
